Arizona's POV:

Here it was, Christmas morning, and Callie and I were sitting at our kitchen table with her Dad.

The three of us were talking about Callie's sister, Aria, and her current relationships. Callie and I had tried to ignore Ari's situation, as this was something neither of us wanted to be doing. However, given what Carlos had witnessed just moments ago, we were forced to tell him details about Ari that we had hoped to keep to ourselves.

"Dad, I don't want to be in the middle of you and Ari, and I am only telling you this so you're aware. Obviously it's up to you how you proceed, but we think you should be a bit more informed so you're not blindsided again."

"Calliope," Carlos' voice cracked as he spoke, "I love you and your sister no matter what you say or do. Please tell me what's going on with your sister."

I was beginning to feel like I was at a tennis match with the way I needed to move my head back and forth to see and hear what Callie and Carlos were saying.

"In that case Daddy, remember, I'm just the messenger." Callie let out a huge breath and then a second later, took in an equal amount of oxygenated air in return.

"Dad, it seems the person you met at Ari's office, was not her girlfriend and her name was not Renee."

"That much Calliope I have surmised, but why did your sister lie to me? And who is Renee?"

Carlos looked perplexed and wounded simultaneously as he searched both sets of our eyes while he waited for one of us to respond. That's when Callie silently nodded for me to pick-up this part of the story because of the information I learned from Charley the previous night.

"Carlos, we think Ari panicked when she saw you a couple days ago and assumed she needed to lie to you. The woman we believe you met in the lobby was, Allison. She's a girlfriend Ari has a history with from Florida. The woman you probably met today is actually, The Renee. She's Ari's current live-in girlfriend, at least as far as we know, she still is."

Callie had found a picture on her phone of Renee and showed her Dad. Carlos nodded yes, in response after viewing the picture.

"So Aria has been cheating on Renee with her old girlfriend and Renee doesn't know?"

"Yep Dad, that's the gist of it. The lies she told you were a poor attempt at covering-up her affair with a plausible story."

"But again, why did she lie to everyone?" Carlos was looking more wounded than anything by this point in our conversation, so I decided to chime in and make him feel better.

"I think she was initially trying to confuse everyone, but ended up getting caught up in her own lies. From our standpoint Carlos, it seems this has been snowballing on Ari for a week now. I think your visit just coincided with the breakdown of Ari's personal activities." I patted the top of his hands that were resting side by side on the table.

"So that nice woman I met this morning doesn't know that Ari is seeing an old girlfriend, correct?"

Callie and I nodded yes, in response.

"I'm so disappointed in Aria. I raised her, both of you," he pointed at Callie, "to be better than how your sister is acting. Cheating on her live-in girlfriend and lying to us, is unacceptable to me. I am going over there right now to give her a piece of my mind!" Carlos had sprung up from his chair and was half twisted towards the door when Callie piped up and grabbed his lower left arm.

"Daddy, sit down. You're not going to get Ari to talk to you today and probably not for quite a while. She's aware now that you're aware of her extra curricular activities. Going back to her condo right now is futile."
