Callie's POV:

It was the evening of our second day at the beach house. Arizona and I had fallen asleep by the fire on the downstairs couch earlier that night. After sleeping for a few hours, Arizona woke first to get up and use the bathroom.

"Callie? Sweetie?" Arizona was towards the back of the couch and needed me to wake up and move so she could get off the couch.

"What time is it, Arizona?" I assumed she had to use the bathroom and quickly shifted my body so I could help her up, given she was tucked at the back of the couch, behind me, and not because of her prosthetic.

"It's after 10 pm, Callie. We fell asleep watching TV by the fire." Sure enough, when I fully opened my eyes and surveyed our environment, I realized the TV was still on, but the volume was low. The gas fireplace was still burning and we had left all the lights on too, of course. It was definitely one of those moments I awoke and for a split second, and had to figure out where I was.

"It must have been the two glasses of wine and the heat from the fire, but holy cow did I crash not long after Rachel left and we finished dinner."

"Callie, I didn't have any wine, but I crashed too. Then again, that's not surprising at this point in my pregnancy, all I want to do is sleep because I feel so exhausted."

"And just think Arizona, after you give birth, we have more sleepless nights for at least a couple years to still look forward to."

Arizona knowingly groaned as she also started scooting her way to the edge of the couch while she held my right hand. Once upright, she quickly made her way to the powder room on the first floor. The downstairs bathroom was just off the kitchen, but was still within earshot of the living room couch.

"I know Callie, and keep thinking about that myself."

Ahhh, the joys of being in a long term, comfortable relationship. I could hear Arizona peeing as she continued to talk to me with the bathroom door open. Within a minute, the toilet flushed and I could hear the water being ran in the sink.

"I worry sometimes Callie that I'm too old to keep up with a newborn, especially with my prosthetic." I had sat up, with my back up against the couch arm, my legs outstretched, just in time for Arizona to make her way back to the couch and sit down next to me.

"I worry myself about keeping up with a newborn, especially now that we are in our 40's. I keep thinking about what it took once we were able to bring Sophia home almost a decade ago. It was nice we had Mark to help us at that point."

"Sounds like we've had all the same thoughts and worries Callie, but one good thing is that we aren't alone this time. We truly do have a village that surrounds us on a daily basis. We have my parents, Teddy, Meredith, Renee and even Ari, when she starts talking to us again."

"I know and you're right. We have a lot of support and obviously, we'll be just fine. And I'd hope that Ari comes around by the time you give birth in the next month. Can you believe it is only about a month away, Arizona?"

"Yes Callie. Yes I can," said my wife as she gave me an overly tired look and patted her belly."

"Sorry sweetheart, that didn't come out exactly how I meant it."

"It's okay Callie, I know what you meant." Arizona smiled at me and then leaned in and kissed my cheek. "Should we turn things off and officially head upstairs to bed?"

"Sounds good to me!" I got up after answering and we started turning off lights, the fireplace and getting things cleaned up. In less than two minutes, we were upstairs getting ready for bed.
