I Know What Got Me Here

Arizona's POV:

It was Saturday morning and officially was our 2nd, 1st year anniversary. One year ago today, Callie and I stood up in front of our friends and family to say, "I do," all over again, in our backyard. It was a magical day and one I was grateful for in so many ways since.

I was waking up that morning to the smell of coffee brewing and immediately realized we had slept in our newly renovated condo the night before. Well, slept somewhat, I should say, since the first part of the night involved us and a lot of sexual activity.

As I came around, I realized Callie was missing from her side, but then heard her working in the kitchen. Callie is not the quietest of people in the world, and it's something that used to annoy me about her, that I now found adorable since getting back together.

I've decided this in the end, I will always know where Callie's at in the house at any given moment based on her noise level. Although, Sophia is exactly like Callie and is far from quiet herself, especially when they try to sneak around. It had started getting harder to tell the difference between them lately...

"Good morning, love of my life! Happy anniversary to us!" Callie was carrying a tray of food and coffee she set down on the dresser. The tray had an assortment of French pastries that were different than we had eaten the previous night and included my favorite, a chocolate croissant.

"Callie, that coffee smells amazing and of course those pastries look incredible! You even made sure there was a chocolate croissant, just for me, thank you! And, you better be joining me and helping me to eat all of this."

"That was my plan, of course! Hey, how much time do we have before I need to be ready to go for your surprise celebration today?"

"You just need to be ready to go by 12:30 pm and should wear something nice, but not overly dressy. I would say something classic, but casual would be appropriate."

"Arizona, I brought a linen blouse, with a tank and jeans... will that work?" We were sitting side-by-side in bed, sharing bites of food and having our coffee.

"That would be perfect, my love! Happy anniversary to us, by the way!"

We shared a passionate kiss, before Callie hopped up and pulled something out of the nightstand. Next thing I knew, she eagerly thrust a small box in my direction. She had the same expression that Sophia gets when she's excited about something too. It shouldn't, but it still blows me away how much those two really are carbon copies!

"What's all this? My gift for you isn't here, because I had planned on giving it to you later today. Now I feel bad, Callie."

"Arizona, I don't care when you're able to give me your gift, but I can't wait any longer to present this to you. Here, please open it!"

I grinned at Callie's enthusiasm and started opening. I was completely awe-struck at what I saw however, when I opened the box.

A number of months back, I think it was around Thanksgiving of last year, I had remarked about always wanting nice diamond solitaire earrings, as did Callie. While I still liked wearing different styles from time to time, I wanted the diamonds for getting dressed up or down. I've also thought they would make good, basic earrings that would pair with anything. Much to my surprise, Callie had remembered that conversation.

In the box where one carat diamonds that were radiating a brilliance I knew cost Callie a small fortune. They were set in yellow gold or maybe something else, I couldn't quite tell from the box and the way the posts were resting in the display holes.

"Calliope Iphigenia Torres! These are incredible and you paid way too much for these! Sweetheart, I love them, but I know my first car cost less than these!"
