Callie's POV:
My alarm went off at 6 o'clock the next morning. It's the normal time we all get up (unless we get paged into work) to start our work or school days. This particular morning, it was a matter of getting Sophia ready and dropping her off at school, as Arizona and I were staying home that day.
I could tell Arizona was moving slow that morning, so I took it upon myself to get Sophia ready and take her to school. I helped Sophia get dressed and pulled her hair back into a ponytail before making her breakfast. Normally one or both of us makes her breakfast, but that morning, I just didn't have the energy and let her have cereal. Sadly in the end, that made her extremely happy to have honey oat cereal and not scrambled eggs. Not sure if that was a comment on my cooking, but I was too tired to worry about it.
I made Arizona some wheat toast with butter and herbal tea. Since she hadn't stirred out of bed, I brought the items to her, as she apathetically laid propped up in bed. "Thanks Callie." I could tell that she was appreciative, but if I didn't know better, she didn't sound very enthusiastic. Nonetheless, I kissed her on her forehead and told her that I loved her before getting Sophia out the door and dropping her off at school. Sophia made sure to run in and give Arizona a hug and a kiss before we left.
"Are you sick, Mama?"
"I'm okay Bug, but I'm not feeling 100%, so I'm taking some time to rest. No need to worry though, instead, I want you to have a great day at school and learn lots." Arizona kissed our daughter again before Soph left our room and headed towards my car in the garage.
"Sweetheart, I will be back shortly, okay? Call me if you need anything, alright?"
"I'm fine Callie, but thank you for getting Soph ready and taking her to school."
"No problem my love, you just stay here and rest. I will be back soon." I bent down and kissed Arizona on the lips, before grabbing my keys and purse and heading towards my car.
After wishing our daughter well on her school day and getting a hug and a kiss from her myself, I pulled away from the school. I had already decided to stop by the deli again on my way home and pick-up food for lunch. I figured it would be easier to talk, if we already had food waiting for us to eat that afternoon. As well, I stopped by a local coffee shop and grabbed a latte for myself and the pineapple, strawberry protein smoothie Arizona loves. I decided she and the baby needed something other than toast that morning.
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I got home, but Arizona was still in bed and had gone back to sleep. Since I had been gone for almost 45 minutes, I decided to see if she wanted to get up.
After putting our lunch food in the refrigerator, I took our drinks and wandered into our bedroom. I set her smoothie down on her nightstand, took a sip of my coffee and set my cup down near hers as I sat down on her side of the bed.
"Good morning sleepyhead, are you ready to get up? I'm home and Soph is at school. I stopped by the coffee shop and got the protein smoothie you like."
She started to stir and wipe the sleep out of her eyes. "Callie, what time is it? I didn't realize I fell back to sleep. I've just been so tired lately. I need to get my iron levels checked again and soon."
"I agree Arizona, but you have also been burning the candle at both ends the last few months. Not to mention you are expecting here in about 4 months. Those things alone would make anyone fatigued."
"That's true. Thanks for the smoothie, the toast didn't stay with me long." At this point, she had sat up and was leaning against her pillows I had propped up for her.
"So, what's the plan this morning? Do you want to stay in bed, or hang out elsewhere? By the way, I grabbed the paper for you on my way in just now."
"Thanks Callie, I think I'll just stay here for the moment. I don't have the energy to move just yet."
