Callie's POV:

I was awoken on Christmas Day, by the smell of bacon cooking and coffee brewing in the kitchen. I laid in bed for a few minutes before getting up and heading down the hall. Arizona was in the kitchen, standing in front of the stove, minding the bacon.

"Where's Renee and Sophia?"

"Sophia is still asleep and Renee is out setting up the treehouse for Christmas breakfast. I told her I'd cook the bacon while she gets everything ready." Arizona was turning the bacon as she spoke and started to yawn.

I knew I shouldn't have, but the lustful side of me, well, I couldn't help myself...

Arizona still had her back to me, as I wrapped my arms around her waist, while I was pulling and holding her body up against mine. Arizona leaned her head back and nuzzled her face into my neck and sighed.

"Still sleepy, sweet girl?" I asked, as I whispered in Arizona's ear. She nodded, while I cuddled her a bit tighter and leaned my head onto hers. I was suddenly intoxicated with the scent of Arizona's hair.  Her shampoo has something in it that always makes her hair smell, amazing.

We stayed that way for the next few minutes, until Arizona turned around to embrace and face me. She had a look of desire in her deep, blue, eyes I hadn't seen since before our divorce. As we started to lean in for a kiss, Sophia came charging down the hall and into the kitchen.

We immediately recoiled from one another as Arizona tried to cover for both of us, "Calliope, would you like some coffee?" We were both silently and individually praying, Sophia hadn't noticed our embrace or how close we were to each other's lips.

"That sounds lovely, you look busy Arizona, so I will get it myself." At that moment, I don't think I could have sounded more robotic, even if I tried.

Both of us are terrible when it comes to lying. Even a child could see right through us, which was why I was skittish when Sophia walked in on us. Luckily, our daughter was too preoccupied with Christmas to have noticed anything.

"When do we get to open presents?" Sophia had an adrenaline rush cruising through her system like no other. She had started repeatedly hopping up and down in the same spot.

"Hey Bug, let me get Renee before we open some gifts. Are you hungry at all? Would you like to eat something before we open presents or wait till after? Renee made mini blueberry muffins for you." Arizona was trying to get her to at least put something in her stomach.

"Okay, I will have a muffin." Arizona knew how to coerce our daughter into her agenda quite well, I've got to give her credit.

I grabbed a plate from the cupboard and started serving Soph. "Arizona, I've got this if you wanna go get Renee."

"Thanks Callie, I'll go see what she's up to and bring her back inside for gifts."

Arizona and I shared unspoken, sideways glances at each other, as if to say, 'Whew,' before Arizona went out to the treehouse.

Within a couple minutes, Renee and Arizona were back in the house, and Sophia was done with her muffins... she ended up eating 2, of the mini muffins. She's totally her Mom's daughter.

Gift opening commenced within seconds of Sophia finishing her muffins. She started out opening the gifts from Santa, her grandparents and a few from some of the hospital staff. We then gave her the battery powered car, followed by her scooter and then the bike.

She loved everything she got and wanted to go outside immediately and play with all her new things. The bike was going to take some training, as it was her first one. However, the car and scooter will be easy for her to figure out.
