Chapter 35:

Women's Mental Institution of Michael Bort, St Peter's Street.

9.19am.

Fallon opens her eyes.

Her short breathes echo through the thin walls of the large, empty room.

The walls are stained vividly with dried blood, as the corners of the room creek due to their ancient built. Deceased.

The room feels as empty as Fallon's soul.

Aimless.

Her brain whirls with agitating thoughts, as she attempts to piece together the scenarios of her life, to build some kind of structure that she can understand.

She wants to understand.

She needs to understand.

Her eyes move to her hands.

She screams intensively, noticing the strong leather cuffs that strap her to a chair, preventing her from moving.

Suddenly, she's breathing all wrong, beginning to gasp like there's not enough oxygen in the air.

Her head rolls with impact, her eyes instantaneously glazed.

She releases sharp screeches of pain, although no one is hurting her.

She's having a panic attack.

She hears the distinct sound of footsteps, as two nurses emerge from the hallway, running into the room.

"Get away from me!" She screams.

The first nurse attempts to calm her down.

She is not overly old, but her body has aged past her years so much that she wears the wizened features of an old crone.

Her forehead is wrinkled - caused by many years of consistently scowling at patients.

There's a distance in the eyes of the second nurse, as she takes a couple of steps backwards, almost bumping into the grey, blackened wall. Her unflattering face stares bluntly at Fallon, harbouring a scornful stare. She's slimmer than the first nurse, her flesh clinging forcefully to her dull skin. Her body looks like it's about the snap into pieces.

"Help! Get me out of here!" Fallon cries, water pouring down from her eyes. She shakes her hands vigorously, trying to break free from the rough leather wristlets that grip her to the chair.

"You're going to hurt yourself, dear" The first nurse tries to hold Fallon's shoulder, who flicks her hand away belligerently.

"Don't touch me!" She screeches, as she rocks back and further in the leather seat.

The first nurse glances at the other for help, who steps forward, approaching Fallon.

"You need to stay calm, Fallon. This is a safe environment" She smiles. She takes hold of Fallon's rough palm, continuing to hold on, even as Fallon fights back.

She takes a deep breath. "If you don't oblique the rules, we'll be forced to take your treatment to extreme measures. And I'm sure you don't want that, do you?"

Fallon stops shaking.

The nurse grins, leaning closer to face Fallon. She speaks slowly, as if trying to teach a baby how to behave.

Fallon spits in her face.

"I'm not crazy!" Fallon screeches, her eyes pleading for the nurse to listen.
