Ramona POV

Marshall left a shit-ton of sweats, t-shirts, and a laptop at the foot of my bed. The difference between being on bedrest at my dumpy apartment compared to Marshall's luxury was like night and day. I chose a gray pair of Nike sweatpants and the fleece forming to my body was divine.

I cracked the window to at least feel the sun on my face. Bedrest is insanely boring. My bedroom was positioned that I couldn't see the pool area from my window, but it was close enough that I could hear Marshall and his kids laughing and playing around. I envied that. Perhaps Marshall and I can have fun like that with our child someday. Or just me and my child from wherever we end up. I suppose Marshall and I have a lot to talk about.

I feel you in me, I feel you grow,

I'll be sure loneliness is something you'll never know.

Maybe you'll have light hair or dark hair like your daddy

Perhaps you'll be a quiet soul or brash, and bold, and chatty.

Can't wait to touch your tender lips, your little hands wrapped round my fingertips

I'll rock you to sleep, I'll sing you sweet songs

The moment we meet will be here before long.

Feeling your delicate skin against my face, nuzzling in front of a fireplace

Can't wait until you're here, my heart's bursting with love

You are my purpose to rise above.

Marshall POV

My girls and I had a perfect day swimming and then hanging out downstairs in the game room. I was even able to sneak a burger up to Mona's room without anyone seeing or becoming suspicious. She was sleeping again so I just left it on the dresser for when she woke up.

I almost told the girls a couple times that were about to be big sisters. The details about our lives changing were on the tip of my tongue the entire day, but I needed more time. More time to prove myself to them and to be just their father before we introduce yet another family member. But now Paul knew, Denaun knew, and I had told my brother. I had to pick a time to tell my daughters and probably sooner rather than later.

Kim came to pick the girls up around seven and Nate was already long gone. He went to go hangout with his chick.

"Bye daddy!" Whitney jumped into my arms, and I kissed her head.

"Bye Uncle, I'll see you again next weekend." I got a hug from Laney.

Hailie stopped in front of me to look in my eyes before falling into my embrace, "I'm so glad you're back dad." She whispered against my chest.

"Things are going to be better now baby. You'll see."

I kissed her cheek and each one of my daughters exited which left me alone with Kim.

"You're different this time. I wondered for so long if you would ever stay sober."

"I don't want to live my life like that ever again Kim. And the girls are getting older, I need to be here for this."

"I'm happy for you Marshall. Take care." Kim smiled and leaned in to hug me.

Something about this woman always makes me feel like I can't completely close the door on that chapter.

I found my way upstairs to Ramona's room and brought a bowl of ice cream with me because everyone says pregnant women like that.

"Hey."

She had the lights on and was doodling in her notebook.

"Hey Marshall. You have fun today?"

I smiled at her and sat on the edge of the bed, "Yeah, it's been a long time since I was able to be present with my kids like that. I think I'm getting used to the idea of having another one on the way."

"Really?" Ramona's voice was filled with hope.

"I don't really have a choice, do I? I mean, you're the one that got pregnant."

Her face drooped in disappointment, "I didn't get pregnant by myself Marshall."

I had to say something to lighten the mood.

"I liked your drawing of the goat. It was cute."

A slight smile shown on her lips, "I just screw around sometimes."

"It's really good, you're artistic. Can't wait to touch your tender face? Nuzzling you in front of a fireplace?"

Ramona looked shocked as she parted her lips.

"Or what was the other one? Let me in your world tonight, fill me with your thoughts,

Relax me, please me, make me laugh and hope we don't get caught? That hits hard! So deep!" I chuckled. "And don't even get me started on that Fine Wine shit. That shit was killer. You should clean it up a little and put a beat to it!"

Ramona threw a pillow at me and missed, "You sneaky prick! You've been going through my stuff!"

"Relax Moe, I'm not gonna tell anybody. Besides, you're living in my house. I have a right to know what you're up to."

"Please don't read my notebook anymore Marshall. That's private."

"Ok. I won't read anymore." There was an awkward silence. "So?"

"So?"

I sighed loudly, "We have shit to talk about. Have you been keeping up on all your doctor appointments?"

"Yes. I visit the clinic regularly."

"Forget all that, I want you to have the best doctor. I figured he could come right here to the house; it will be easier this way because you're in such a delicate condition."

"That would be amazing." She lazily set her empty ice cream bowl on the nightstand and snuggled back down in the bed.

"Why are you always so tired? Last night you slept for over twelve hours straight."

"I'm pregnant! Plus, this bed is the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on. And these Nike sweats," She rubbed her legs over the covers. "they're heavenly."

"And make a list of what foods you like to eat or anything else you're going to need or want." I told Ramona before I made my way to the door.

"Thank you so much Marshall. I don't deserve this."

"It's the least I could do. By the way, when's your due date?"

"January sixteenth. Five months to go."
