CHAPTER 12
"Three nights and you're always in a nightmare. Are you a sinner?"
Elrin groaned as the vampire carefully pulled her up, grazes on her cheek, lips busted, and leg trampled by cement.
She winced in pain by the sudden teleportation, Riki putting her down when they landed on a farther distance from a collapsing building.
Elrin let out a heavy breath, trying to decipher what happened. One minute she was happily strolling on an empty street, and the next second she was inside a torn building.
"Did something happened here?"
"No, i don't remember"
"Then why?"
"Why the hell would i know? You're the dream expert, find some answers"
He scoffed, "Excuse me? How would i know if every dreams are connected to you or your past. Did something happened these past days?"
"Except for you suddenly popping out on my subconscious and nag at me, no"
Riki just rolled his eyes, as he watch the building continued collapsing causing the other establishments and trees fall as well.
The stinging pain is making her tired than she already was, yet knowing that she wouldn't feel anything when she wakes up, maybe enduring it longer and see what happens next is better. Afterall, it didn't seem that it's time for this dream to stop.
"Any ideas?"
"Besides from my cover slowly collapsing, no"
"Maybe that's it", he snapped at her, "The building could be your cover and it is..."
He abruptly stopped when he realized it was a bad thing to say, yet looking at the girl, she seemed rather calm than panicking.
"Are you officially admitting defeat?"
"What do you see me for", she lightly chuckled, "It's just that.. i can perfectly hide in here and do whatever i want. I can slit myself knowing that it won't affect my real body. And isn't it amusing? These past nights my dreams seems like telling me that something like it will come true"
From drowning in fears, been chased at, overseeing her deaths for four times, and now her cover collapsing.
Elrin can just laugh at herself, doesn't matter if the vampire beside her would think she's getting crazy.
Sometimes she would hope that she's a literal vampire if fate would still lead her to live within them. Or, she would stay human but have a human adopted family and live like normal problematic teenagers do.
Her head is painfully throbbing, forgot that she just got pummeled by cemented walls and hard ceilings like a plastic doll.
Riki is.. well just staring at her. At times like this he would hope that he knows what to do in this situation. Yes he did have human friends and some of them breakdown like the girl is now, but he wasn't mostly present on sweet comforting moments.
He saw them hug each other, or even one would pat a crying friend's back, or they would just cry together— he felt dumb exactly.
So, the only option he has is to think what would Jungwon do if he saw him not in a mood.
And that's what he did.
Carefully and gently enough not to hurt her even more, Riki lightly held the back of her head and pulled her on his embrace for awhile. Once he felt her sinking on his hold, he pulled away a little to kiss her forehead while patting her back.
Am i doing this correctly?
Though he didn't had the chance to ask himself more as her figure suddenly vanished in a bright light.
I hope she won't find it weird
