CHAPTER 20
When Riki opened his eyes, it was immensely dark. He can’t see anything, nor hear except for his labored breaths and the soft creaks of the mattress he’s laying on.
He’s certain that he’s in a room, though the scent and the overall comfort is far from his own. He never sat up nor moved bigger than just wriggling a little and flickering his eyes around, cautious on what are the things possible around him.
It wasn’t long when his heightened senses picked up a sound of faint footsteps, inching nearer and nearer by the seconds. Then a door opened up, allowing the littlest light to overshadow the darkness enabling him to see a peak of the hallways outside, the plain walls and a piece of furniture inside the room.
“You’re were out for two days”, the Lord’s voice snapped him to focus again, narrowing his eyes to see from the sudden blurriness
“Rest, Riki. You’re still recovering. We fed you enough blood but your body needs rest. You will wake up again when you’re fully recovered”
“D-dad..”, he gasped when just the littlest voice came out, almost in a whisper
He tried to gulp down twice and speak again, but his throat just tightened and pained.
“Rest, you need it”, the man sighed, walking over beside his struggling son, “We’re tracking Jake so you won’t need to worry”
“El..rin?”
“They moved away, not sure where but far from here”
The vampire’s face dropped, an obvious gloom and a frown on his lips. His eyes trembled at the thought of her being in danger, especially when Jake is on the run.
“I know what you’re thinking, don’t worry I’ll try to track them too if you want. But also remember that she’s not one of us Riki. You’re the opposites. She can’t be one of us”
“But dad.. i can.. i can..”, he whispered, desperation on his tone while he looked up to the elder with glimmering eyes, “Tell me.. you know..”
It was the minimum words but Varos knew what he meant. He knew what this desperate vampire wants, but he can’t provide that. Especially that he’s in a crucial state and one strong push and he’ll faint.
Varos carefully pushed his body down and tucked him in properly, “Rest. I’ll tell you then”
“No.. now..”
“Listen to me Riki this is for the best. After all you need the energy to protect her, right?”
It silenced the younger for awhile, head hung low as he fought the tiredness away.
“Rest. Rest all you can. Trust me you need it. Prepare yourself and do what you want.. if you need to”
Riki snapped back at him with widened eyes, only to be greeted with the elder’s smile.
“Harming the royal right hand’s family is already punishable by death. Secondly, harming someone who’s already being owned by one vampire especially of royal blood is double the punishment. Your brother is acting differently.. So, rest as much and do what you want. Tracking her is only possible when you’re recovered”

It’s been a week and she’s dying in loneliness. Sunoo already befriended a fellow vampire named Sunghoon, and Yuta is working twice as hard as a king’s adviser, meanwhile she’s just locked in their house, waiting for a miracle to come.
“You can go out Elrin”, Sunoo said as he passed by her
Right, she’s the one who’s locking herself in.
“How long?”
“What, you’re sulking because you can’t see Riki again? We told you we’re just staying here temporarily you lovesick girl”
“I DIDN’T SAID THAT!?”
“You’re about to. AND PLEASE DON’T SHOUT!”
“I’M JUST SAYING BECAUSE YOU’RE RIKI THIS AND RIKI THAT!”
“WHY, IT’S TRUE!? YOU’RE ALL HE DIDN’T CAME IN MY DREAM ALL MORNING!”
“BUT IT WASN’T BECAUSE I MISS HIM!”
“YOU DO! YOU LIKE HIM!”
“WHO LIKE WHO!? AND WHY AM I HEARING YOUR VOICES TWO STREETS AWAY!?”
As usual, Yuta is the only one who can end the siblings’ fights. Still, Elrin had a frown on her face and just sulked on the other side of the sofa.
He didn’t visited her dream for over a week now.
Did something happened?
Though she shivered when she thought of such danger. But it was weird and worrying. The vampire just suddenly stopped following her, when he’s usually on her tail.
