You stood up, walking towards the girl as you sat next to her.

"I'm (y/n)" you said, not looking directly at the girl, instead looking out of the cabin and into the sky.

"Mikasa." She responded before looking from the sky as well, to her hands, lightly rubbing her nails.

"How old are you?" You asked, noticing she looked to be about your age as well.

"I'm 17." She responded before you nodded.

"I thought you might've been, ill be 17 soon as well." You smiled before sighing.

"(Y/n), why are you here?" She asked as you looked at her, thinking you might've been invading her space.

"I can leave." You told her as she shook her head.

"I mean why are you becoming a scout?" She asked as you didn't want to tell the same sappy story to every person you'll meet here.

"My mom died, then my dad left, then my girlfriend left as well. The universe has something against me, I'm sure." You giggled, trying to make light out of the situation.

"My mother died as well." She said as she brushed her short, soft black hair behind her ears.

"I'm sorry to hear that." You responded, feeling a slight bit of relief that she could relate to you in a sense.

"Is that why you want to become a scout?" You asked as she shook her head.

"Eren. He wants to, and I can't leave him." She said as you nodded.

She must really care about the boy.

"Our hometown was attacked by titans when I was 12. Then we trained in another training camp until I was 16. Now I'm here." She shrugged as you were about to place your hand on her shoulder, pulling away knowing she probably wouldn't like that. You hope you would grow on her and be able to trust eachother. She seemed just like you.

"I heard about the shiganshina attack back then, it's crazy to think that that actually happened." You said shocked as you remembered that story your mother had told you. She never told you it was real, you'd thought she just said that to make you scared.

But it really happened?

'When my dad told me I'd become a scout what did he mean by that? I planned on protecting the walls, making sure no one got in or out, but ever since I've got here, it's been like we're training to be in the army.' You thought as you turned to mikasa.

"Mikasa what do scouts do?" You asked as she looked at you confused.

"Train to fight the titans." She told you before your eyes widened.

"T-titans?" You asked before looking into the sky.

"The scary monster things my mom would tell me stories about? They're real?" Your heart sunk as the girl replied with a "Yes"

You quickly got up from where you were sitting to stand outside. You felt gross, and the fresh air wasn't helping.

Mikasa didn't follow after you as you got far away from the cabin before leaning down on the ground.

"I'm gonna get killed. I'm going to fucking die!" You whispered in fear before feeling yourself nearly hack.

You hadn't eaten breakfast and it was past lunchtime by now, you felt like barfing, but you could only spit, taking deep breaths as you pushed your mind off of man eating monsters actually being real.

"Hey (y/n)!" Sasha voice became louder as you could hear her feet slap against the gravel.

"You good?" She asked as she put a hand on your back as you were leaning over, facing the ground trying to get yourself to not throw up, by taking deep breaths.

"No." You groaned as you spit on the ground once more, leaning up to look at the worried girl.

"Let's go get something to drink, alright?" She asked as she pat your back a couple of times, waiting for you to stand up properly and walk with her to the main building.

"Nanaba?" Sasha asked while making sure you were beside her.

"Yes?" The woman standing in the dining room of the buildings kitchen turned around to look at the two of you.

"(Y/n) isn't feeling too good. Can she get a glass of water?" Sasha asked as you just looked down in embarrassment as your new friend was doing everything for you like your mother.

"Yes. Why are you not feeling good, (y/n)?" Nanaba walked towards the sink of the kitchen as you followed.

"My dad lied about what scouts were, now I'm just finding out we throw our lives away by fighting monsters." You said, still not believing the words coming out of your mouth.

"Ah, well, that's definitely something. But worry not, we'll make sure you don't throw your life away. I'll train you even harder, and protect you at all costs. That's my job." The reassuring comments Nanaba made were very much calming, but the whole situation was already so stressful.

You grabbed the glass of water from Nanaba to chug it. You never knew how good water could be. You put the empty glass down as Nanaba took out a basket of bread.

"You haven't eaten, have you?" The woman asked as you shook your head.

"Take one, Sasha you too." She pointed the basket towards you as you grabbed a bread, Sasha doing the same.

You watched as Sasha scarfed the bread down as you savoured it, taking small bites.

"Sasha, did you not eat either?" You asked as she shook her head.

"I ate a huge breakfast, but I'm still hungry!" She groaned as she rubbed her stomach, Nanaba giving the girl a side eye, trying not to look disgusted at her adequate.

"No wonder you ran out of food at home." You ate the last bite of bread as you watched Sasha roll her eyes.

"Alright, now if you don't mind, I have things to get to. Go back to your cabin." Nanaba said as you turned to leave with Sasha.

You walked out of the building and was greeted with a light breeze.

"How'd you know I was out of the cabin almost throwing up?" You asked Sasha, not understanding why she came to help.

"Mikasa told me." Sasha responded as you nodded.

"Well, that's nice." You said knowing Mikasa didn't seem like the girl to care, and just watch from afar.

"Yeah, She was pretty calm about it. She said 'Sasha your friend is panicking.' And then pointed towards you outside." Sasha told you.

You giggled at how weird that encounter must've been.
