"What the fuck?" You look at the note to do a retake.

This was definitely your mothers writing. You remembered it, so neat and soft. Her pen would graze the paper and make such beautifully hand writing.

Besides that, what was this supposed to mean? How could your mother have written this? If she's claiming her death wasn't an accident, did she write this note beforehand? Was this note a death wish?

You gulped, trying not to let the puke come up again.

You tore open the other cabinet looking for your mothers files, but nothing.

You flipped through countless papers, trying not to skip any details that could even be remotely important.

But nothing besides childhood information, and doctor's paper work. Nothing regarding her or her death. You really hoped there would be more leads. You were desperate to know why your mothers death wasn't an accident, and if possible, who or what killed her? And for what reason?

You realized how off track you were. You came here to find your health card and here you are flipping through and wrecking all of your mothers files.

You looked back at the stash you had pushed out of the way that was labeled "(y/n)"

Flipping through the files once more, you located your doctors notes and flipped through for your health information.

And you found it. Your blood type, date of birth, home address, citizen proof was all here.

You groaned before standing up, your body retracting since you'd been on the ground for a while. Your legs were in pain but you managed.

You held onto the rail of the stairs as you walked down, slowly, step by step.

You had the information needed in your other hand as you walked back towards the scout application paper in the kitchen.

You knew you couldn't mail the application, considering your mailbox was overflowing and you didn't bother to go outside to put more in, or take more out.

There was a number on the bottom of the application and that was your best bet.

You dialled the numbers into the phone before holding it next to your ear, making sure the extension of the phone didn't tangle.

"Hange Zoe here, how may I help you?" It sounded like a woman with a deep yet weirdly energetic voice.

"Hi, I'm... looking to become a scout?" You didn't know if that was the right wording but hange would probably understand.

"OOOOAH! Another scout?! Yay!" Hange roared before hearing a deep voiced man tell her to shut up.

You just stood in your kitchen holding onto your home phone waiting for... something to happen?

"Okay okay, Levi!" Hange shooed the man away from afar before pulling the phone closer. "Sorry about that." Hange whispered before taking a deep breath.

"So I'll need your info, you have it ready?" Hange asked as I gave a simple "yes" for a response.

Hange asked you for your personal information as you answered accordingly.

You knew you didn't have a car or means of transportation in general.

"Uh..." You began before being cut off by the energetic person on the other side of the line.

"A bus will come pick you up next weekend, Saturday! It'll be filled with other students your age, so don't worry!" Hange exclaimed as you sighed at the fact that you didn't have to walk town to town just for this thing.

Hange continued to talk away about what exactly they did, you paying only attention as to what they cook for their cadets, and the type of living conditions. It sounded a lot better than how you were currently living. It felt like a weight being lifted off your shoulder.

"Thank you, ma'am." You sigh into the phone before the woman made a "heeeh?" Questioning noise.

You've never heard a person make that sound, was she disgusting at what you said or something?

"Wh-" You began before hearing a sigh on the other end of the phone.

"I'm not a ma'am, call me Hange, no sir or ma'am." She said sternly as you just blankly stared into the window that lead into the backyard.

"Oh, sorry." You apologize still being a little confused. Maybe Hange didn't like gendered pronouns.

You just made sure from now on you'd call Hange, Hange.

"Alrighty darling! I've got paper work so if there's nothing else, I'll be going!" She exclaimed into the phone as you pulled it slightly away from your ear.

Damn, Hange was loud.

"Oh...ok, goodbye" you said silently before hearing Hange excitedly say goodbye through the other end.

You put the phone back in it's holder.

Now you were beginning to have regrets. You signed up to become a scout, protect the walls and leave your home. But is it really worth it? You didn't want to leave your home, nor your garden. You still hadn't moved on from Sammy, but you wish you did.

You couldn't get over the fact that your heart was shattering into pieces little by little, more each day with the realization that she was long, long gone.

She could be doing the exact same to another woman right now, lying through her teeth before abandoning the next girl she decides to manipulate. Fuck.

You pushed your mind off of Sammy as you went outside, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air.

Your dad would come once every week to check in on the house and water the plants. This garden wouldn't change, you told yourself.

If your dad slipped up and you came home to dead plants you'd feel betrayed. Your father knew how much your mothers garden meant to you.

You wish you had friends, ones that you could make sure watch over the house and actually take care of it.

If only your mother didn't die, you wouldn't have to work at 16, and you wouldn't have to be betrayed by a lover at such a young age.

But Sammy, your dad, your old job, or the friends weren't your problem anymore. You had to get over it.

Your main priority was your mother, since reading that fine directly written by her, saying her death wasn't an accident, you knew you wouldn't be able to sleep until you got to the bottom of it.
