The next few months were rough. Mikasa distanced herself from you and was constantly on her own.

You and the others helped build the town of Marley back up, knowing that was the only land that wasn't destroyed. You all had to live there.

There was an alliance between the people left alive within the walls and the people left alive from Marley. There were only a few thousand people alive, so repopulation had to happen eventually.

You celebrated your 20th birthday on your own, only having had Jean really remember the day was your birthday. Mikasa also said a quick "happy birthday" before heading back to her room in the new scout building your group had built.

You didn't mind. Birthdays weren't a big deal anyways.

You were glad buildings were being built by all of the citizens left alive. People that sold food began to plant seeds again, and the rations were sustained until more food was produced.

Historia took on the role of queen and promised she'd keep everything in order. A government of its own formed, and it was very peaceful.

No one was greedy, and everyone did their own part in progressing the land so it could go back to how it was before.

Jean even told you that he'd build himself a home so he can eventually live with his family in. Him saying that made you want to have a home of your own, that you could share with Mikasa.

~

"(Y/n), lets go out for breakfast." Mikasa said out of the blue as you were instantly on board with the plan. You really wanted things between Mikasa and you to be back to normal.

You walked alongside Mikasa, down the trail on Marley grounds. You didn't really consider the land you were on Marley anymore. It was your home now. Everyone's home, which was shared.

Mikasa didn't hold your hand like she used to. It made you feel like everything was for nothing. All of the happy memories the two of you shared was gone. Did she even still like you?

"Soft bread." You smiled at the man who ran the new popular bakery in the slowly growing city.

"And I'll get a hard baguette." Mikasa said as the both of you gave the man a toonie each. The soldiers that fought against Eren kept the discount off things they buy, and you were thankful, because money was something hard to find.

You didn't have a job, other than continuing to stay a soldier, but now that everything was over, what's the point of being a soldier?

You took the bread from the man before walking with Mikasa towards a city bench.

Jean built this bench. Props to him, it didn't crash under your weights, and it was actually quite comfortable.

"What happened that day?" Mikasa asked which caused you to stand on edge at the question. You had put that day far behind you, and you never wanted to remember what happened.

"-what?" You asked, after having taken a bite of your bread.

"Your mom... your visions.... You haven't told me anything." She said as you looked at her with wide eyes.

"You haven't told me anything either? You've been ignoring me ever since." You reminded Mikasa, knowing that if she was coming at you for lack of communication you could do the exact same back.

"I've been ignoring you because I don't want my shitty mood to rub off on you." She told you as you shook your head.

"Shitty mood? Mikasa no matter what mood you're in, I want to stay by your side!"  You reminded her as she looked quite disappointed.
