Mission: LOVE ⚔️ (mikasa x reader)

Finally time

"We're all ready?" Levi asked as he stood up next to the table, you and Mikasa also standing up next to the table, though the height difference between Levi and everyone else was quite funny.

"(Y/n), because of your leg, you'll be stationed at the east side of wall Maria." Erwin said as you nodded.

"Everyone else, we're going to the very south of wall Maria. We won't be able to reach you, (y/n), but you'll have your flares. You have every colour in case of needing reinforcement. Be careful." Erwin continued as you were grateful you memorized the colours of the flares and their meanings.

"Call down every other scout in the base, except Reiner and Bertholdt." Hanji requested as Mikasa nodded, running up the stairs and soon hearing many footsteps coming down.

"Now that everyone's here, let's do a quick run down." Erwin said as the crowd of scouts piled into the room. Luckily the room was huge and everyone could fit.

Mikasa stood behind you, holding onto your shoulders.

"We already have traps and explosives set up around the inner walls. All of the odm gear have been checked and people will be in bases providing more weaponry and air tanks if any soldiers run out." Erwin said as he looked from cadet to cadet.

"You're all aware we're suspicious of Bertholdt and Reiner. So in order for this mission to succeed, you all must be prepared for anything." Erwin said as every cadet put their fist on their chest.

"Yes sir!" They collectively said as Erwin looked towards you.

"(Y/n) here is the one that initiated this mission in the first place. Let's all bring her to justice and do what we can to prevail and take the walls back for humanity." He said as you felt Mikasa tap your shoulder gently as a way to say "good job".

That little gesture of Mikasa's made you feel a little less nervous considering all eyes from all soldiers are on you.

"The commander of the military police, and the commander of the garrison regiment are both telling their soldiers the plan." Erwin reminded all of the cadets that this wasn't a joke. There would be so many soldiers ready for this day.

"We'll get going in 1 hour. I have trust in all of you. Dismissed!" Erwin said as everyone slowly went back upstairs, trying not to cause a commotion in case Bertholdt and Reiner became suspicious.

As far as they knew, a couple of groups were just going to investigate the outer wall.

You and Mikasa had left the room as well after talking to Hanji, Erwin and Levi one last time.

"How are you feeling?" Mikasa questioned as she noticed your facial expression being rather unusual.

"A little nervous." You told her as she put her hand on your head, before ruffling her fingers in your hair.

"You'll be fine." She reminded you as you nodded.

"Less than an hour to go. Okay." You breathed in and out slowly as you stared at the clock in the kitchen.

"Have some water." Mikasa handed you a cup of water as you chugged it.

"Thanks." You replied as you set the cup on the counter.

"Stop staring at the clock. Make sure your odm gear is ready." She said as you nodded before going outside.

"You can't ride Pine, can you?" Mikasa asked as she followed after you.

You pet your horse gently before turning to her.

"I try." You responded, not exactly wanting to specify yes or no.

You tried to ride Pine before, but with one leg you weren't able to control the horses movement.

Pine was really gentle, and he was a good horse. But any horse would have trouble if their rider couldn't command and ride the horse with both legs.

Your balance was good, but it was just a hit or miss.

You didn't know if it'd make you go faster, or slow you down.

"If you're not sure, don't risk it. Leave him here." Mikasa said as you looked towards the ground.

"We won't be bringing our horses either. Don't worry about the horse." She continued as you pet Pine before going to the back shed to find your odm gear.

"Heavy." You groaned as you struggled to hold onto the gear while also holding onto your crutch.

You sat down on a stack of hay before putting the gear around your waist and testing out the triggers. They worked. And there was a new air pipe in the back as well, which meant you were ready to go.

Mikasa got herself strapped up before telling you she was going to get Eren.

You wondered why she'd get ready before even calling him. Now she'd have to walk all the way in and all the way back, with her gear on. She must be strong to be able to do that and not get the slightest bit tired.

Soon one by one, soldiers came outside to get their gear on as well. Reiner and Bertholdt did as well. And it was like nothing was wrong. They had no idea.

"(Y/n), you're coming on the mission with us?" Reiner questioned as you nodded.

"Yeah! Mhm. Yknow... I've been practicing being able to use odm gear with my missing leg. So now I'll actually try it in action." You smiled at the boy, clearly feeling nervous. You wondered if he realized you were lying through your teeth.

"I'm back." Mikasa said as she stood by your side, bending down and wrapping her arm around you and kind of moving your attention away from Reiner.

Reiner gave her a look before leaving to get ready himself.

"You suck at lying." Mikasa whispered as you grit your teeth.

"He didn't seem to think so," you said as she took her arm off of you.

"Eren are you alright?" She turned to Eren who was having trouble latching his odm gear onto his waist.

You watched as Mikasa helped him put on his gear like a mother would put on her child's clothes. Why couldn't she help you put on your odm gear like that?

Now was not the time to be jealous of Eren.

Now was the time to get to the east side of the wall and prepare for anything at the south side.

"Alright, you ready?" Mikasa questioned as you nodded, your crutch on the hay stack away from you as Mikasa and you stood side by side, positioning yourself to be ready to jump.

"Yes." You responded as Mikasa nodded.

"3, 2, 1"- She began the countdown as you leapt forward just after she said one, her doing the same.
