"Ouch!" Sato cried out. "Be careful." He chuckled.
"Sorry, I keep forgetting to keep you away from obstacles too." She shook her head.
Their Sensei had the bright idea of leaving each team alone in the woods while one team member was blindfolded. They couldn't use their quirks to get out of their situation either, it had to be all by their own wit and strength to escape the woods. The exercise was to teach the class on how to rely on one another when they needed it the most. Sato was the unfortunate one to be blinded through the adventure, Rya wasn't the best guide when it came to protecting him from tripping and running into things.
"Okay, there's a tree coming up on your left, reach out and touch it so you don't get hurt."
Sato reached out into the air to feel the wet bark of the tree, "that's better, kitten." He smiled, taking a step forward only to fall down. Rya came to his aid, helping him up.
"I'm sorry. I didn't see the branch."
He laughed as he helped her up, "You're so bad at this." He snorted. Rya smacked him on the shoulder.
"I'm doing my best!"
"I know, kitten. Lead on." He held out his hand, clearly entertained by her trying so hard. "Can I suggest something?" He asked.
"Sure." She sighed.
"You're too focused on the finish line and not the process of getting there. Shift your attention to me, keep me out of harms way."
"If I do that how will I know where I'm going?"
"I didn't say we couldn't take rests to find our bearings." He chuckled. She rolled her eyes and grinned at him.
"You're enjoying this aren't you?" She crossed her arms.
"Kinda." He shrugged with a smile.
"I'll make sure you hit every tree." She joked, leading him around. She carefully watched their surroundings, getting better at guiding him through the forest.
"Hey kitten."
"What's up sugar lips?" She asked.
"It's been ten minutes and I haven't hit anything." A stupid smile plastered upon his face. She burst out laughing.
"Come on, I see the lights from the cabin. We're almost there."
"Okay, pay attention."
"I know."
They made it out of the woods and travelled their way back up the long drive up the mountain to get back to the cabin. Present Mic and Aizawa were there to greet them. Sato took his blind fold off to see the rest of the class already inside.
"We were last place?" Rya asked.
"Yeah, you came in last place. Go and get yourselves cleaned up." Aizawa ordered them. A weight of shame and guilt set upon her shoulders as they both walked to their rooms.
"Don't feel bad, Kitten." He wrapped an arm around her.
"I made you fail." She looked at him.
"You're new Rya, it's going to take some time to learn how the class works." He reassured her. She nodded and left for her dorm room. She stepped straight into the shower to wash herself from the mud and sweat and then laid down on her bed in her cat onesie. She heard a knock on her door, "Permission to enter the kitten's lair?" She heard Sato's voice on the other side of the door.
"Granted." She giggled. He came in all fresh and clean, sitting at the edge of her bed. Rya didn't move from her spot, she was too relaxed from her hot shower to budge.
"Is the Kitty sleepy?" He asked.
Rya shook her head and smiled brightly, "I'm just happy I can finally relax." She looked at him, seeing bruises on his neck and arms. She shot up from her bed to look at them. "Did I do that to you?" She asked a little upset.
"Yeah but-"
"I'm sorry." She took his arm and inspected it.
"It's okay, Rya. I know you don't mean it." He watched her as she kissed every bruise she saw along his arms, hoping to make the pain he felt subside. He watched her adoringly, was he this precious to her? As her lips inched closer to his hand, he cupped her face, "It's okay, Rya. It doesn't hurt." He caressed her cheek with his thumb gently.
"I should've been more careful."
"You're learning. That's all I could ever want out of you."
She nodded and leaned into his touch, not wanting his touch to leave her. He left his hand there upon her rosy cheek, feeling the exact same way, they needed each other's touch.
"I hear they fixed the hot tub." He told her. "It'd be nice to feel the jets on my back." He told her. She lifted her head and grinned.
"Let's go when everyone has had their fill of it...I just want to be with you."
"God, you say the cutest things sometimes."
"I can't help that." She looked down, hiding her pink cheeks. He drew the curtains of hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. "What do we do until then?"
Rya shrugged and smiled bashfully, "I don't know."
Sato thought a moment and glanced back at her, "I have something in mind. It's a game."
"What is the game?" She asked a little interested.
"We both sit across from each other and we say things about ourselves, we both have to figure out if what we say is a lie and if we're right we place a hand on the liar."
"What? That's a lot to process."
"Here, I'll show you...I'm not Japanese." He lied. "Place your hand anywhere."
"On..your body?" She asked.
"Yeah, the object of the game is to make each other feel too silly to lie. Sometimes you get so good at this game you can feel the lie before I say it."
Rya placed her hand on his knee, hoping she followed his instructions right. Sato chuckled, "make me feel ridiculous, like this..." he pinched her nose making her giggle. "Okay. I think I get it now."
