He grinned at the expression that crawled upon her face, shock mixed with devastation. How did Bakugo of all people know that nickname? Did him and Manoma talk or did he overhear something he wasn't supposed to.
"Bakugo lunged at her again but she dove in between his legs, back into the mud. She kicked him into the muddy ground too and they struggled with each other, wrestling to get the prize flag from one another. Bakugo shoved her face into the ground, making it hard for her to breathe. She freaked and grabbed a fistful of his hair before he could reach her flag. She didn't even care about his flag at the moment, she just wanted to hurt him really bad. She pulled on his blonde hair tightly, yanking his scalp around until he let go of her. Just before he let go, she snatched the flag from his head and won the challenge. She came up for air, choking on the mud that she coughed up.
Sato came to her aid and helped her up from the ground, "are you okay, Rya?" He asked her. She couldn't speak if she tried, she was too much in shock of what Bakugo tried to do to win. Mezo came to her and payed her back firmly until she puked up the contents of her stomach. Sato wiped the mud from her face and tried to calm her down.
"What's the matter, Cry Baby? A little dirt can't hurt you." Bakugo teased. Rya lost it, lunging at Bakugo, Sato caught her by the waist before she could claw his eyes out. He held her in his arms firmly as Mezo advanced on him.
Aizawa caught Mezo's wrist in his scarf and pulled him back, "Sato, please take Rya back to the cabin." He told him.
"Yes, Sir." He took her away from the scene and walked with her, back up to the building. Rya didn't say a word, she just shivered while the mud hardened on her skin.
"You're okay, Rya."
"...He tried to suffocate me..."
"Yeah, that wasn't cool. I know it was a challenge to show strength but that was just bad sportsmanship." He shook his head and took the hair from her face. "You didn't ingest any of the dirt did you?" He asked.
"If I did, I left it all on the battlefield." She said, not realizing she had made a small joke. Sato chuckled at he response and picked her up in his arms, "What are you doing?" She asked.
"I don't want to make you walk the whole way." He simply said. "We did win though, I'm proud of you. Bakugo will be waking up to a swollen scalp."
Rya laughed at the thought of it, oh how he deserved it.
"Thank you for carrying me, Sato." She said reaching up to touch his dingy face. He looked down at her, she was such a sweetheart.
"You're welcome, kitten."
They finally reached the front doors and they headed to their own rooms to take a shower. Rya washed herself twice, convinced she wasn't clean enough before she popped out of the shower and changed into some cleaner clothes. She changed into a hoodie and a pair of shorts before she headed to the common area to see Sato sitting and relaxing on the couch.
"Wow, this is a change. You're not a cat today." He smiled up at her as she approached him. She sat down next to him, feeling his warm arm wrap around her shoulders.
"No, I don't feel like being a vat today." She shrugged and then looked down at how bruised Sato's legs were. "Damn! Was all that from the past two days?!" She exclaimed in shock.
"Oh yeah, probably." He shrugged.
"Do they hurt?" She said feeling one above his knee. He flinched and chuckled.
"No they don't, I'm used to it." He said leaning back on the couch. Rya poked his knee again and he shot up, "Rya don't you dare!" He scolded. She did it anyways, prodding his knee making him suppress a laugh.
"Rya, quit it!" He giggled, trying to get away. He finally tackled her to the couch and they started play fighting. Rya laughed hysterically and bit him in retaliation.
"Ow! You rabid cat!" He joked sitting up. Rya followed, sitting up with him.
"Oh I didn't bite you that hard."
"Yeah you did." He pouted, pretending it hurt.
"You're a big baby." She poked his side before cuddling up to him. "I'll leave you alone, just let me take shelter in your warmth."
Sato burst out laughing, "drama Queen." He pulled her close against him so she could feel his warm body and she got comfy, laying her head in his lap.
"I hope we make the best time today. I really wanted that look out spot."
"I know you do, my kitten loves her high places." He teased.
"Mhm." She closed her eyes, feeling at peace finally. The fight she endured earlier seemed to dissolve as she rested in Sato's arms. "I can't wait to go back to school." Sato spoke up.
"Me too, I kind of miss my room." She replied.
"There was more things to do there than here...I'm ready to go home." He added. They wished they knew how long this retreat would be so they knew when they would be able to leave this place. Cabin fever was setting in and even Rya grew a little restless. She didn't expect the class to be this hard right away but she was thankful that it was. The lessons Mr Aizawa threw at her, though she didn't realize, were slowly helping her heal from her trauma.
Sato looked down to see Rya fast asleep in an exhausted slumber, he rolled his eyes. Cats sleep a lot anyways, he thought. He didn't move or budge, he let her sleep while he stroked her hair.
