The next morning, Rya awoke from her sleep feeling absolutely terrible. Reminded of what happened last night, she buried her face in shame with her pillow. She felt bad about how she treated Sato, he of all people didn't deserve that. She didn't want to explain herself either, in fear of the situation being taken in the wrong way. She sighed and dressed so she could meet everyone in the common area. She kept her head down, feeling the gaze of her classmates upon her skin. It irritated her so, there was no telling how they felt about her now. Maybe she really was crazy and she didn't realize it yet. Mic handed her a plate and she sat by herself, separating herself from everyone. She didn't even look up, she knew how all of the faces we're looking at her. Pity or disgust, Rya didn't know which one was worse. She snuck a look over at Sato whose gaze upon her couldn't be read at all. It was almost blank but something was there, dwelling just under the surface. Was it hurt or concern? She couldn't tell.
"Good morning, class." Aizawa greeted his students with a rare form of zeal in his voice. "We will be out all day today. It is cold out so I suggest you wear the warmest clothes you've brought. We won't be back until midnight or even later than that."
"Really?" Sero spoke up. "After what-" his ribs were elbowed by Mina who shut him up on the spot. No one should be blaming Rya right now, no matter how upset the class may be at her.
"Shut up." She harshly whispered. Sero rubbed his sore side as Aizawa continued.
"Once breakfast is finished, you will meet up with your partner and head out."
Rya didn't waste any time, she finished her food and left to change into something warm. She rifled through her bag to get a pair of warm leggings, flannel top and thin sweater to go underneath. She sealed all of that warmth with a thick cotton jacket. Being anemic in the climate they were going to be in was going to be annoying. She opened a shoe box of boots that her brother demanded her to buy when they went shopping last. He must have known she would need them at some point. She quickly slipped them on and placed her beanie upon her head. She brought a light back pack with a few things she might need since they would be out for so long.
An extra hoodie, flashlight, lighter and a couple of water bottles. She snuck in her ukulele just in case she got inspired. When she was finally ready, she opened the door to see Sato standing there, her eyes were big, intimidated by his sudden appearance.
"Hi..." she gulped.
"Morning." He said in a bland tone. She still couldn't read him. Was he mad at her? "Are you ready?" He asked. She nodded and gave him a weak smile, hoping in some way he would return something positive back. To her dismay, he merely blinked and headed down the hall, "Let's go."
She obediently followed, meeting the rest of the class in the common area again. No one knew what they were doing and it put everyone on edge. Uncertainty and excitement filled them all as they left and followed their Sensei down the path. It was still dark in the woods and the sun was just barely showed over the horizon. They were all a buzz with hushed chatter as they walked, "what do you think is about to happen? What does Sensei have in mind?" Deku asked his partner, Uraraka. She shrugged, looking at the freckled boy. "I'm not sure, maybe it's another one of those survival lessons."
"Maybe."Deku thought a little. "Aizawa doesn't repeat his lessons though."
"Maybe it's something else entirely. We will know by the time we get to our destination."
Iida and Shotos feet started to climb carefully over the hill their teacher led them over, "I wonder how long we will have to trudge over this rough terrain." Iida spoke up.
"It's just a hill..." Shoto replied absently.
"Yes, well...it was a rough hill. I can't imagine what Mr Aizawa has up his sleeve this time." Shoto shook his head, trying not to say anything in reply to his complaints. He knew Iida wasn't much of an outdoorsman, he would just have to suck it up this time.
Sato silently walked, following the others up the hill and around a thick bunch of trees, he looked aver at Rya but she wasn't there. He looked back and saw her in the back of the crowd, walking by herself. He sighed and he lagged behind to catch up with her. she couldn't do that, they were responsible for each other.
"Hey there." He spoke up seeing her head down, walking and watching her feet take turns hitting the ground. "You might run into a tree if you keep walking like that."
"Good." She said almost too quietly. Sato kept an eye on the rest of the group as he walked beside her.
"I don't think anyone is paying you any mind right now, Rya. They're all focused on the lesson." He looked down at her, she was still not convinced that she didn't deserve to be unhappy. He knew she was still blaming herself for last night.
"Listen, I know you might not forgive me for what I did to you...but-" and just as Sato predicted, she slammed head first into a tree. Sato stood there a bit alarmed but then burst out laughing, "Hahaha! No way."
She laid there , not wanting to get up from almost getting knocked out. "Come on, Kitten. Class 1-A always gets up when they fall...and then beat the shit out of the one who knocked them down." He chuckled. "But I think the tree might win again since you feel so sorry for yourself."
She looked at him, blue eyes standing out from the rest of the muted colors of the outdoors, "shut up."
