The house filled with cheery music as Rya played her ukulele in the middle of the night. She just couldn't stop, she was doing her best not to focus on the events that unfolded earlier and she was too afraid to go to sleep. Sato knocked on her door drowsily, "Rya. Is everything okay?" He asked.
The music stopped as she opened the door, "...Hey."
"Hey. Sounds like you're performing a concert in there."
"Yeah, sorry. I'm just trying to keep my mind off of what happened."
"Are you having trouble sleeping?" He asked.
"Yeah..."
"Can I come in? I have an idea that might help." He asked. He saw her hesitant eyes. "You don't have to if you don't want to. I just thought I'd help."
"Sure." She opened her door and let him in. He sat in her desk chair and faced her.
"Come and sit on the floor in front of me." He instructed.
"Why?" She looked at him strangely.
"Trust me. I'm not going to hurt you." He chuckled. Rya did as he said, sitting in front of him on the floor. His hands grabbed her scalp and she jumped a little startled. "What are you doing?" She looked up at him.
"Will you relax, I'm giving you a head massage."
"Oh..." she blushed. "What for?" She flashed her curious blue eyes at him.
"To help you relax. come back."
She resumed her place up against his knees and let him massage her head. His fingers were gentle as they kneaded her temples and scalp. Her eyes fluttered shut, feeling the ease of her thoughts, "Are you a magician?" She asked. "I feel so much better."
"I thought since you were having trouble with your thoughts, I'd relieve the stress. People forget that all the stress goes to the head."
"...I believe it." She yawned.
" I see it's working already." He laughed. He moved to massage her neck and she seemed to go weak as she enjoyed the feeling of her muscles finally resting. "Do you do this to all the girls, hmm?" She asked with a dazed smile on her face.
"Sometimes. I haven't done it for them in a long time though."
"Do they react the same way?"
"They all react differently. They trust me since I don't feel them up like Mineta."
"Yeah, that guy is a creep." She made a face.
Sato pressed his thumbs in a spot just behind her earlobes, triggering a pressure point to help he sleep better. "Sato, you're so nice...you didn't have to do this."
"I wanted to. I don't like seeing you struggle."
She leaned back so her head was in his lap to see his face. Those electric blue eyes shocked him every time. He swore she could look into his soul with those eyes, "that's really sweet of you." She gave him a weak smile.
"How do you feel now?"
"Better, thank you so much. I'll try not to be a nuisance next time."
" Now, who said you were a nuisance?" He asked her.
"I just know I am. I know my brother does too much for me. Sometimes I feel like I'm a burden to him."
"No, he loves taking care of you."
"How do you know?" She asked.
"I've seen the look on his face when he does it, he wants you to live a happy life."
"I know he does. I also just want to give him a break. He never has any time for himself. I wish There was something I could do for him."
"You amaze me sometimes." He spoke, stopping his attention on her head to look at her.
"What?" She looked back up at him.
"You're just so selfless. It's a beautiful thing to see in someone."
"There you go with that silly word." She giggled.
"What word? Beautiful?"
"Yeah, you never cease to say it when you're around me."
"...well, I can't help that." He brought her head back to his lap so she could meet his eyes. "When I see something beautiful, I name it exactly that." His thumbs stroked her blushing cheeks. "One day I hope you see your self as beautiful, Rya." His brown eyes stared at her adoringly.
"Maybe one day..."
"That's better than never." Sato found himself running his fingers through her blue hair and Rya absently nuzzled her face against his knees, feeling fully relaxed and comfortable. "Are you getting sleepy yet?" He asked admiring her.
"Mmm....maybe a little."
"I see how it is, you just want another massage." He replied.
"Mmm...maybe." She giggled. "I won't keep you though." She went to sit up but he gently brought her back to him.
"You're not keeping me from anything." He massaged her shoulders and let her relax again. Sato didn't mind at all that he was losing sleep, he loved seeing her so at peace. It was worth every minute. After about ten minutes, she could hardly keep her eyes open, he helped her to bed and made sure she was okay before he left.
"Sato." She whispered.
"Yeah, Rya?" His eyes went huge when he felt a sweet peck upon his cheek. His face turned red and he looked down at her sleepy face, "Thank you for putting me to sleep." She said before closing her eyes and finally going to sleep.
He placed a hand on his cheek where she left her kiss and smiled. He looked down at her sleeping figure and wished he could return the kiss but decided to let her be. He turned off her light and closed the door behind him before walking to his own room to catch up on his sleep. Before he could reach his door knob, a sudden zap and crash was heard and all the lights in the house shut off. The other students came out, wondering what the noise was.
"Did you see anything?" Mina asked Momo.
"No, I was almost asleep."
"It has been raining pretty badly, maybe a tree branch hit a transformer somewhere." Iida deduced.
Sato hoped that his attempt at putting Rya asleep would last through the night as he curled up in his own bed. He didn't care that the power just went out. He was too happy thinking of Rya as he fell asleep.
