"Hey, Fawn." He choked out with a small smile.
That was the first time I had seen him smile since I got back, since my year of hiding away. I remember he was angry, consumed in hate towards me. He wasn't the Fred I knew, but now he was back, it was as if he had remembered everything that happened between us, only the good things.
I was finally able to speak, after searching for the right words, "What happened?" I pulled Draco down with me to kneel by his head, stroking his firey red hair.
Molly sniffled slightly, "He got attacked by a werewolf." She spoke with a slightly strained smile, knowing that her son was alive, but would have to live the rest of his life with such a burden.
As I looked closer towards his wounds, there were two large scratches over his chest, as well as a single scar that started at the top of his left eyebrow, dragging its way down to his right cheek. The memory of the twins coming to check on me as I held a similar scar on my face, which had since faded, had popped into my head, "Badass." I spoke with a slight sniffle.
He let out a slight chuckle before closing his eyes, "Will he be alright?" I asked Arthur who was holding Molly close to his chest.
He nodded, "Possibly a bit scratched and bruised, but he'll live." He smiled, answering the entire group around him.
"Where's Valerie?" He whispered, causing my breath to hitch in the back of my throat.
I looked towards Draco and Blaise, unsure whether I should tell him or not, though he would find out sooner or later, "She- she died, Fred." I spoke in a soft whisper, which somehow only made his smile grow.
"Thought I'd have to kill her myself in all honesty." He laughed slightly, before coughing.
"Fred, she was your girlfriend. How could you say that?" I asked, completely confused.
He took a deep breath before opening his eyes slightly, letting in a small amount of light before rolling his head softly to face mine, "She had me under the imperious curse, Fawn. Those things I said, I didn't mean them. I'm sorry." He whispered.
I was completely lost for words. Nothing could fall from my lips, not a trace of a single sentence. I sat there, next to him, completely puzzled, completely bewildered by the situation we had found ourselves in. I had only just found out that she was on his side and now, everything, yet also nothing, made sense.
"I could seriously kiss whoever killed her." He breathed, rolling his head back over to smile at his siblings and parents.
"Yeah, that's not going to happen, mate." Blaise chuckled lightly.
I was able to let out a small smile before turning to Draco. That smile faded instantly as I found his eyes still glued to the small girl under the blanket across from us. He rolled his tongue against his cheek before sniffling slightly. I linked his pinky with mine out of habit, "Hey," I spoke so only he could hear. He turned his head towards me slowly, keeping his head down so I couldn't see his eyes, "I love you." I whispered, placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
He brought our hands towards his mouth before kissing his thumb, remembering every single promise we had made. He held his lips to his thumb for a while, scrunching his eyes shut tightly as if it was such a painful thing to do. Theo's words rung throughout my head on repeat, "Then make it a romance." Those words, over and over again. He knew how hard it had been for the both of us, he knew my opinions on the popular play, and yet, he was adamant that our love wasn't going to turn out as a tragedy, but a romance.
