"Christ Fawn, you're starting to eat like Ron," George laughed, earning a slap from Onyx.
"Hey!" Ron and I snapped in unison.
Everything had been going well since the funerals, we were all just waiting to hear when I would have to go to court. And unfortunately, the time had come, and I was beyond nervous. Everyone had agreed to breakfast at the burrow before we would go, everyone wanted to come. I felt sick to my stomach, not knowing whether I would be believed or not. But I had done nothing wrong, right? My body had been taken over by a vial man, I was made to do things I never wanted to do.
Although, that was what everyone said after the first wizarding war.
I sighed to myself, leaning back into my chair, "I can't help it, you're not the ones who have to court in two hours." I huffed, scanning the table for any extra food I could consume.
The moving image on the front of the paper near Arthur caught my attention instead, I couldn't help but snatch it from its placement and bring it closer to my eyes. My jaw dropped as I scanned the picture close, my eyes widened at the movements. It was Draco and me, kneeling next to Theo's grave, "You have got to be kidding me." I spoke through gritted teeth.
"What is it?" Ron asked through a mouthful.
I inhaled deeply before reading aloud what was on the front page;
Even The Young Can Find Happiness, But Will It Last Long?
Young Draco Malfoy and Fawn Swallow were seen mourning the loss of Theodore Nott. Sources say that Fawn Swallow; daughter to Edmund Swallow and Antonia Swallow (née Riddle), and Draco Malfoy; son to Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, celebrated the announcement of their engagement on the very same day of Theodore Nott's funeral.
I didn't get time to read the rest of the article before Draco had taken it from my grasp, "Why can't they just leave us alone?" I sighed, rubbing my fingers over my temples to ease the headache that began to brew.
Rita Skeeter had been after us ever since the war was over, constantly bombarding us with questions we didn't want to answer. She was insensitive and had absolutely no boundaries, "Just forget about it, love." Draco sighed, throwing the paper away with a huff before draping his arm over my shoulder.
Thinking about what was to happen in court made my stomach drop and I instantly felt bile rise to the back of my throat. My stomach ached and I found it hard to swallow, my anxiety was growing and growing, I was more than scared of what was to come.
"Before I forget," Draco started, pulling out something from his pocket, "Here." He smiled, handing me a small black box.
I opened it with a curious smile before my breath was captured at the sight of a silver ring. It was gorgeous, the band was littered with small white diamonds, with every five diamonds, there was a dark green emerald that took its place. It was stunning, simplistic and perfect, I couldn't hide my smile.
"Um- no," Hermione stated, reaching over the table and taking the box from my hand.
"What was that for, Granger?" Draco asked, sounding sarcastically offended.
Hermione sighed, looking towards Ginny and Onyx for their support, "You can't give her the ring during breakfast." Hermione sighed.
I slumped back into my chair once again, "Mione, it doesn't matter how he chooses to give me a ring. In all honesty, I don't even need a ring-"
"Oh don't be so modest," Onyx complained, leaning further into George and earning a snicker from both Blaise and Lorenzo.
My eyes widened at their retaliation, "I'm not being modest, he already asked the question, and I said yes-"
