Melissa Newman
It was Monday morning, Smiling in the mirror I made a promise to myself. I was no longer going to let this cancer rule my life, I was done being scared. I was done being frightened by the future I didn't have. These three weeks gave me a new purpose, A new outlook on life. I may be restricted to the things I could do but that didn't mean I couldn't try. I got given a second chance at living life and I wasn't going to throw that away. I may not be able to be a surgeon but that didn't mean I couldn't create a new dream something more realistic something achievable. "Sis you ready for your first day back?" Lee popped into my bathroom not caring if I was fully clothed or not. "No I'm not ready for my first day back at school but I'm ready for the first day of my life" I was ready. "So does that mean you will talk to Blake" Here he goes again? "No, I still think that it's a bad idea I can't hurt him like that Lee" Okay so I wasn't taking my life fully back it was just one thing I would have to live without I could do that. He deserved to find someone who would be there for him through thick and thin that's something I just cant do.
The music was loud it was blearing and it was the best feeling in the world, The lyrics of this song coincided with me. "Time still goes on but I'm here stuck to the ground nowhere to turn" I whispered the lyrics. I loved this song it came out in the '70s and it carried me through my treatment. Pulling up into the school I smiled at Lee's friends who gave me a dirty look. "Why are they looking at me like that Lee" I was beyond confused. "I haven't talked to them since you were in the hospital they dragged me away when you needed me friends don't do that, plus somethings are going on" I looked at Melody and she hid behind Brody so I'm only guessing that something happened between Lee and his Girlfriend. "What happen Lee" He couldn't hide anything from me and he knew. "When you were at the hospital and I was visiting you there was a party and Melody and Brody accidentally slept together" I could see the sadness on his face, his eyes dropped and I knew right there that Lee had been crying himself to sleep. I wondered why he hadn't slept with me since I got out of the hospital.
I calmly made my way to Melody and smiled peacefully, Before I knew it I had launched at her and punched her in the face so hard he nose was bleeding and there was a black ring forming around her eye. She looked at me scared so did the whole group. I then turned to Brody. "You were meant to be his best friend you knob" Shaking my head I punched him too now they looked identical only Brody was knocked out on the grass. Turning I walked towards Lee, Martin was standing next to him. "You didn't have to do that Lissa it was unnecessary" I looked back towards the group who had shocked look's on their faces looking straight into their eyes I spoke. "No one fucks with my twin brother and gets away with it I don't care who they are" Linking my arms with the boys we made our way inside. "Your hands not sore not even just a little bit" Lee had a smile on his face. He must have loved the show that had just gone on. "Nope, it feels better" He could tell by the tone of my voice that I was lying and that was okay I could ice it when we get home.
By the end of the second period everyone knew what happened in the car park earlier. "They deserved it not just because of what happened at the party but because he's a douche" I laughed at that comment both girls turning around and running in the opposite direction. "If I knew people were going to ignore me if I punched someone I would have done it years ago" Shaking my head I was amusing myself and that was fine. "Guess those boxing classes came in handy for you" Martin and myself full-on had a laughing attack to the point that when we looked at each other we laughed once again. "What boxing classes?" Oh right. "When we were at boarding school they would make us do boxing classes to keep our strength up" We all agreed that in school we would use the term boarding school us three knew what it meant and if any bystander had heard the conversation they wouldn't think twice about it.
I was hungry, It was finally lunch. Lee had been sitting with Martin since I went into the hospital. Blake spotted me from across the cafeteria. "Oh god get ready for a quiet lunch again" Martin rolled his eyes he didn't understand why I wouldn't just talk to him. I would feel guilty. Blake made his way over to use but instead of sitting down he pulled me over his shoulder and walked out of the cafeteria with my brother laughing his ass off and Martin shaking his head. I didn't just sit quietly either I screamed as loud as I could. Blake grabbed his bag from a group of boys who had been laughing at me as I screamed. "Help me the big bad wolf just ate my grandma and now he's coming after me help" My pleas were going in one end and out the other.
