When we get out of the taxi in front of the hotel, I feel my body relax for the first time in days. I drink in the fresh air. Maja takes a selfie next to me, showing thumbs up to the camera. "I promised my parents that I would inform them once we're here," she explains before I can ask, pocketing her phone again and we enter the hotel. Sophie stands behind the front desk and waves when she sees us enter. "You really came back. Your room is already waiting for you. It's the same as before and essentially, the work is as well. But you'll get a new introduction with a few others at 2 pm, back here," Sophie says and hands us the keys. "Thank you," Maja and I say synchronously. Back in the lift, Maja says what I've already been thinking. "It's like we never left." "And this time we'll be able to stay for longer," I add and lean back against the wall. Pushing our suitcases to the room almost feels like coming home. Once we're in our bedroom, I pull out my phone, look at the screen and put it back when I see that I don't have a new message. "Have you told him that you're here again?" Maja asks while she starts unpacking her things. I shake my head. "Not yet." Maja straightens. "Why not?" I shrug. "We haven't spoken since the day he left here and the last time we texted was last weekend after the competition. I'm not even sure what to say when he comes back here again," I say while I keep turning my phone in my hands. "Just text him," Maja says and starts unpacking again like it's no big deal. Maybe it shouldn't be. But I'm scared to see him again just as much as I am looking forward to it. Maybe I interpreted too much into our texts. But what if not?"You're overthinking it," Maja says without turning to me. I'm back in the hotel. Waiting for you to come as well. I text and send it off without reading it over again. Then I put my phone away. "At least the exams are over. I'm sure I'll be able to enjoy these weeks much more than the first one," Maja keeps chattering and I'm glad about it. "Me too. And we're better prepared for what's coming." "Or who is coming," Maja bites her lip. "Sorry, I had to." Exactly at that moment, my phone vibrates. Maja acts like she doesn't notice and vanishes in the bathroom. I take it and walk through the room, push the curtains to the side and look outside to take a breath before I look at the message. The view to the mountains that I came to love during our first short stay here. On my way. But I won't be able to speed up the plan. I smile at my phone when I see his answer. I know the plan by now. Wow. That from the girl who didn't know what the green line meant a few weeks ago. I still blush at the thought of that conversation. When I accidentally exposed exactly how little I understood about his sport. I'm a fast learner, I try to save my pride. Will you still have time to watch the competitions now? I need to know if I have to smile at the camera again. Now I'm definitely blushing. Sad to disappoint him, but glad that it could be a disappointment. Not very likely. I'll depend on your updates again. I'll make sure you'll get them then. Maja comes out of the bathroom again and I put my phone away. She takes one look at me and knows what's going on. "You wrote him." I put a hand to my still hot cheek as if she hadn't already seen it. "I did. And he wrote back. It's all fine," I say. Maja smiles. "See? You didn't have to worry. And you won't have to worry about seeing him again either." I sigh and open my suitcase again. We'll soon have to be back downstairs to get our work schedules. "I know," I say, but I also know that I'll still worry until the time has come and we've talked again. Face to face. Him seeing me again after I've watched him on the TV. Maja pushes her suitcase under our bed and takes a step back. "I think that's all I can do for now. And I'm done first. Again." She grins and I laugh. "Do we start that game again?" "Sure. It motives me." "Only because you're always winning and you know I haven't gotten any better in the mean time." I nudge her shoulder. "You'll get your boy and I get the joy of winning every day. That seems fair to me," Maja gives back. I look at my phone again. "I wouldn't bet on getting anything. But I will look forward to our game. We'll play until I'm winning and you won your bet at the breakfast buffet." The thought of that makes her roll her eyes. "We need to go and find out if we'll even work there again. You can unpack the rest later." I gladly push still full suitcase away and follow Maja out of the room. I always hated the whole packing and unpacking thing when travelling.
