"You didn't really think I would do anything but agree to that plan, right?" We stand on a small street, overlooking the village. I can hear music and people's voices on the streets despite it being Sunday night. Cars drive through the streets, lights flicker everywhere. In contrast, the forest behind us seems to have fallen asleep for the night, the darkness stretching out between the branches, only the occasional sound of a twig breaking or a bird calling disturbs its utter silence. "I had my phases where I was nervous and wondered," I admit."Why on earth would you doubt that I wouldn't think the idea to be great?" he mumbles and presses my hand. "Maja said the same thing," I say, because now that it's over, that he's here next to me and I told him everything I don't remember my worries either. "You know, I have a feeling that this year will be a lot better than the last," he says after a while and makes me smile. "But you will miss me in Oberstdorf, right? Because I won't have the time to work there this year." "I'll comfort myself with the thought that we can see each other more often after that. Have more weekends like this," he says. "I never thought I'd be this excited to start working after Uni," I say and lean my head against his arm. His thumb traces a circle on the back of my hand. "You'll be amazing at whatever you have to do there. I won't let you regret making this decision." I look up, gently pull his head towards me and kiss him with the forest sleeping behind us and the village full of life in front of us. He pulls me closer, his hand on my back until I feel his body heat all over my body. This kiss, this weekend feels like a happy end to our story. There might still be problems. I know there will still be moments where we'll have to fight for our relationship, prove to each other that we belong together, but right now, tonight, after everything we've been through, I don't doubt that we can face all those challenges and overcome them successfully.
