colour coordination

most of the dates sakusa and suzume have
gone on their outfits were colour coordinated.
sakusa wasn’t the type to own many matching
pieces for couples or wear matching clothes
out in public (if something were to match, it
just better not be the same damn thing), so this
was a very good ‘meet in the middle’ for him. 

not that suzume was into the matching either.

it made her cringe a bit. 

which put the two on a bench outside, drinking
warm coffees and judging the couples that
walked by. this was their ‘after lunch’ activity. 

koizumi suzume
“oh! look, they’re wearing the
exact same thing! even to the
bag!” 

sakusa turned his head, following the direction
his girlfriend was pointing at until his eyes
landed on a couple who were literal carbon
copies of one another. same shoes, same
pants, same jacket, same hoodie, same bag,
same scarf, same toques.

he scrunched his nose. 

“oh yikes.”

suzume laughed. 

koizumi suzume
“at least they chose
complimentary colours, hey?”

sakusa tilted his head to the side. 

“well…?”

“they look stupid.”

“like they're siblings and their
parents dressed them up for
some sort of family photo.” 

suzume threw her head back as she laughed
and sakusa chuckled at her reaction. he sat
a little straighter as he took a sip from his drink. 

“it’s why i’d rather just colour
coordinate with you.” 

“looks individualistic and the two
of us can stand apart.” 

“plus, i can wear whatever i want,
you can wear whatever you want,
but we still look put together--if
we stand together.” 

suzume giggled, leaning her body over to her
boyfriend and resting her head against his
shoulder.

koizumi suzume
“you’re so funny.”

sakusa chuckled, glancing at suzume. 

“am i?”

“just because i don’t wanna
look like thing 1 and thing 2
over there?”

suzume laughed. 

koizumi suzume
“now i feel bad!”

koizumi suzume
“okay leave them alone, asshole.”

koizumi suzume
“let them live their life as a couple.”

sakusa rolled his eyes playfully. 

“you’re the one who started it,
hun.”

“in fact, need i remind you that
you’re the one who wanted to
sit out here and people watch?”

suzume laughed again. 

koizumi suzume
“okay okay!”

she let out a playful huff through her giggles
before scooting closer to sakusa and linking
her arm with his. she tugged on his sleeve, as
if to let him know she wants to be a little warmer,
and he brought his hand out of his pocket to
bring his arm behind her. 

suzume smiled, content with the closeness
despite both of them wearing jackets on the
puffier side.

koizumi suzume
“a part of me thought we might
catch nikou and y/n on their date.” 

“hm?”

koizumi suzume
“i dunno! i kinda wanted to know
what they’re up to!”

koizumi suzume
“but even y/n doesn’t know since
it was a surprise.”

koizumi suzume
“so i dunno.”

“well, dummy, doesn’t y/n have
work until like 2? or 3? or
something? if they’re going on
a date, it’s going to be in the
evening, remember?”

suzume’s expression blanked for a moment
before she blinked and turned to face forward. 

koizumi suzume
“anyway.”

sakusa chuckled. 

koizumi suzume
“it’s kinda chilly, huh! we
should get home, cuddle, and
i dunno! take a nap!”

“should we now…”

suzume giggled sheepishly. 

“well before we pursue your
brilliant plan, was there any
other place you wanted to
go, plum?”

“it’s only quarter to 1.” 

koizumi suzume
“hmmm are the boys home?”

sakusa shrugged and handed his coffee to
suzume who held onto it with a mittened hand.
he leaned back a bit to grab his phone from his
pants pocket and turned it on to check his
notifications. 

“no, osamu and suna went out
together. said there was this new
expensive restaurant that has
a valentine’s day deal they found
out about today.” 

suzume pouted. 

koizumi suzume
“aw, poor tsumu, all alone at
home.”

sakusa hummed. 

“did you wanna go home to
keep him company?”

“you could probably hook
your switch up onto the tv
and play some games with
him to cheer him up.” 

koizumi suzume
“oh! it’s valentine’s day on
my island! maybe he’ll enjoy
it!”

sakusa nodded, reaching for his coffee back
from his girlfriend. he was the first to get up,
stretching a bit as he did so. then suzume
followed. 

“let’s get him something to
eat on the way home.” 

“he probably didn’t eat anything,
knowing him.”

koizumi suzume
“let’s get him sushi! and tuna!” 

sakusa smiled, nodding along. 

he reached for his girlfriend’s mittened hand
and gave it a gentle squeeze, tugging her along
to walk with him.

“great idea. you pay.”

koizumi suzume
“w-what?!”
