the walk was silent for the most part but it
was rather comfortableㅡumetsu didn't
feel that sakusa hated her, she knew he
wasn't as talkative as others. plus, he had
her walk on the inner side, him taking the
side that cars would pass by instead, which
gave her a sense of security.

she appreciated it.

sakusa kiyoomi
"when are you free next?"

she stood straighter, baffled by the sudden
question.

umetsu yua
"h-huh?"

sakusa elaborated.

"i have work on the weekends
and i usually like to rest and
study on sundays."

"we should get our project done
as soon as possible even though
it's due on the 12th."

umetsu's heart calmed and she nodded.

umetsu yua
"i'm usually free on tuesdays,
thursdays and fridays but i
know you've got volleyball
practices, right?"

sakusa hummed.

"i'm free this coming tuesday
afternoon and i'm available
between 12 and 5 on thursdays."

"i've got practice until 7:30."

umetsu yua
"oh! um, tuesday is good
but i'm not free in the
afternoon for thursday."

umetsu yua
"i don't mind meeting on
thursday in the evening
if that's okay with you?"

there was a silence and umetsu glanced at
sakusa's face. it seemed like he was thinking
and she smiled a little.

"okay, sure."

"i have a bunch of other
things to do for my classes
so i'd rather get this done
as soon as possible."

umetsu yua
"yeah, totally understandable."

umetsu yua
"i can pick our research topic
if you'd like? just so you don't
have to stress about it."

sakusa turned to look at umetsu.

"sure, that'd be nice."

"pick whatever you find the
most interesting."

she gave him a smile and he nodded in
return, turning away to look forward as he
walked.

the rest of the walk was rather silent, only
filled with a bit of small talk here and there
as umetsu asked sakusa some trivial
questions to lighten up the mood a bit more.

he was nice, she felt, as he didn't ignore
her and actually conversed rather normally.

umetsu yua
"do you have a favourite
scent of hand sanitizer?"

sakusa hummed.

"not really."

"i guess aloe vera is fine
but that doesn't really
have a scent, does it?"
