the seat you landed was not at all what you
wanted and your luck at rock paper scissors
is to blame. though, kenma, suna and bokuto
were quick to attribute their victory to 'knowing
how your opponent thinks'. and, of course,
suna adds that it's all the years of volleyball
and being a middle blocker that he actually
knows how to use his brain.

this had earned a shove from osamu before
everyone was hurried into the van. at the front
was osamu and akaashi, with akaashi in the
driver seat; in the middle row was kenma,
bokuto and then suna; and in the back was
hinata, atsumu and you. the three of you
were going to fight for who had to sit in the
middle, but atsumu had kindly offered just
so you could at least get one thing you
wanted.

after nagoya, though, the seats were
apparently changing.

and, truly, it wasn't actually bad to sit a bit
squished in the back row. it was cozy and
atsumu's body warmth was rather comforting.
it also helped that nikou's playlist was lulling
you into sleep. the only downside was that
you didn't have a neck pillow and the ride
just wasn't smooth enough that laying your
head against the window was going to be
comfortable.

suna
"i'll give you samu's neck
pillow if you pay for my
ticket at ghibli park."

you scoff immediately, tempted to kick the
back of his seat (but that would end up
affecting both bokuto and kenma who
were so kindly minding their own business).
you had hoped that the three of them in the
middle row would remain being headphone
warriors the entire drive; however, suna of
course just had to get a kick out of something.

"as if."

"i'd rather die."

suna laughs and shifts in his seat, turning
back to you with a cheeky grin. you
obnoxiously stick your tongue out at him
before rolling your eyes and turning away
with a huff.

suna
"you are the biggest drama
queen ever."

"am not."

suna
"are too."

"am--"

osamu
"can you two shut up? i'm
trying to listen to my music."

you and suna share a light laugh.

perhaps it was because going on a road trip
put him in a good mood that he folded and
tugged the neck pillow from his neck. he
tosses it to you in a boyish fashion, making
sure it hit your head, before he grins and
turns to sit properly in his seat.

he was annoying like that, but it puts a
smile on your face nonetheless.

"thanks, suna."

he can hear the smile in your voice.

suna
"yeah whatever. don't go
around saying i'm not a
gentleman."

you roll your eyes playfully.

"this isn't even your neck
pillow in the first place."

atsumu
"would ya just take it? i'll
steal it right from ya if ya
keep blabbing on. i wanna
sleep, too."

you scoff at atsumu and jab his side with
your elbow which makes him jolt and laugh.
