Chapter 12;

*Carsons POV*

The doctor had told Tyler and Danielle that Makenzie made it through the surgery, but she's asleep right now. We're not allowed to see her until she's awake. I sighed heavily, thanking god that Makenzie was alive and I didn't accidentally kill her. I couldn't have another blame on my shoulders when I already had enough.

Tyler walked out of the doctors office, and slowly made his way over to where I was sitting. I looked at him hesitantly, not looking forward to what he was about to say to me. Tyler sat down on the chair in front of me and leaned down so he was laying his elbows on his knees. He had a weary look in his eyes, I gulped, and shifted uncomfortably.

"Care to tell me why you guys were out last night?" he asked, in a stern, demanding voice.

"I bet the doctor already told you, so why ask me?"

He sighed. "You could've gotten one of us to drive Makenzie to the hospital. Not a 17 year old boy."

"Who are you to fucking judge?"

His face became angry, and he sat up. "Don't you talk back to me."

"Already fucking did."

Tyler slapped me, right there in the ER room. He didn't care. There was nobody in the room, except for a front desk lady who wasn't paying attention to anything. I cupped the side of my face, and my eyes grew wide. Tyler seemed satisfied, and smirked at me.

"That'll teach you for cussing, and disrespecting your father."

"You're not my father. You will never been my dad." I whispered, staring at the ground.

"You will learn something about respect. Hasn't anyone ever taught you discipline?!" Tyler was on his feet now, and he started to raise his hand again. This was just like the abuse I went through all over again. I raised my arms up to my face to defend myself. That didn't stop Tyler.

He grabbed my arm roughly, and dragged me outside into the pouring rain. "Don't you dare come back in until you learn respect." Tyler shouted, and stormed back into the ER room.

I glared at the doors he went through, and dropped to my knees. I didn't care if I was getting wet. All I wanted to do is see if Makenzie is alright. Tyler was a fucking bastard. I wasn't going to let him win. I stood back up, clenched my fists, and walked back inside with what confidence I had left.

Tyler seemed surprised I came back in so quickly, and he tried to talk to me but I completely ignored him and went straight towards the front desk. The lady seemed distracted, but she looked up from her clip board, and started talking in a monotone voice.

"What's your problem, sir?"

"May I see Makenzie Smith?"

"Are you family?"

I gulped and nodded. She wrote something down on her clip board. "Her room is number 254. You have one hour."

"Okay." I walked through the doors, and looked down the white hallways, and started hunting down the room number 254. It took me forever to find it. I eventually found it, and stood at her door. I gulped, and started thinking this was a bad idea. I could always turn back but when do I ever get a chance like this?

I don't.

I pushed my thoughts aside and pushed open Makenzies door..
