Chapter 30;
*Carsons POV*
Makenzie stirred in her sleep as I sat her down on the couch. She looked so peaceful, and vulnerable when she slept. I looked down on her, and caressed her cheek lightly. I walked into the kitchen and turned on the stove light. It was 2:35am and I wasn't tired at all. I had a lot on my mind.
I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge, and sat down on the counter. I literally debated with myself on whether I wanted water or alcohol. Makenzie would be pissed if I drank, and her parents wouldn't leave me alone about it so I saved myself some trouble.
I couldn't help but wonder if Tyler and Danielle honestly cared if I was gone for that long. Probably didn't. Considering the fact that Tyler hates my fucking guts and Danielle probably didn't give two shits.
I was at the abandon house most of the time. It gave me peace, and quietness. The old house sat empty for 30 years, and nobody bothered to even glance at it. It was the perfect hiding area. Nobody would come look for me there because everyone swore there was something wrong with it, but personally, I thought it was glorious. Only two other people dared step foot in the house, and they were two guys that knew of the place before I ever did.
Their names were Bentley, and Alec. They were a quiet bunch. They supposedly lived at the place, and told me I could stay if I wanted. I couldn't do that though. I had Makenzie. I couldn't do that to her. Bentley and Alec had a lot in common with me. We were all abused, and raped, but none of them compared to me. They felt sorry for me and I hated that.
I heard footsteps come into the kitchen, and my head flicked up. It was Tyler. He looked mean as ever, and looked very pissed at the fact that I came back. I wasn't intimidated though. I never was by him. Tyler slowly came towards me, and crossed his arms as he leaned against the other side of the counter.
"You came back," Tyler faked smiled, and I could hear the sarcasm in his voice.
"Yeah,"
"Nobody wanted you here,"
"Ok,"
"You're not wanted anywhere,"
Not true. "Ok," Bentley and Alec wanted me, Makenzie wanted me.
Tyler frowned. "Ok me again, and see what happens,"
I smiled. "Ok,"
I felt a slap on the back of my head. It didn't hurt, but he was being an ass. He smiled in amusement, and got close to my face.
"Why did you adopt me if all you ever do is treat me, and your family like shit?" I asked, messing with my water bottle.
"Danielle wanted a boy, and she couldn't have babies anymore. She had a full hysterectomy done, and she cried until she got her son. Sadly, she chose the abused, broken child. I hates you from the start. All you did was whine and complain, but Danielle loved you. She may not show it, but she does. I only put up with you because of her. So don't you dare say that I treat my family like shit," Tyler explained, and glared at me.
I glared back, and we stared at each other for a long while. I could feel him becoming scared. The intensity in my eyes was unbearable and he backed down. I half smiled, and took a sip of my water. Tyler slapped it out of my hands, and snorted.
"Hm. What a waste," I said quietly, looking at the mess that was now all over the floor. "Guess I'll have to get a new one,"
"Listen here you little shit. You better stay away from my daughter, or else shit is going to go down. I will not hesitate to put you back in that adoption agency. Test me, Carson. I dare you,"
I held up my hands, and laughed. Tyler didn't like my reaction much. I wasn't going to stay away from the one person I now love. Was he out of his mind? I finally found love again, after 7 years, and he wants to take that away from me. I wasn't going to let him.
"You really are something, aren't you? Thinking you can tell me what to do. Think again, Tyler. You can't control me, or what Makenzie does. She may be your daughter, and you may have adopted me, but I'm pretty sure Makenzie would choose me over you. Just a thought," I smiled, and kept my cool.
Tyler on the other hand, was enraged with anger. He stormed out of the kitchen, and brought in Makenzie by dragging her by her ear. I winced as he shoved her at me. Makenzie landed in my arms, disoriented, and confused. I held her, and rubbed her hair. Tyler laughed harshly.
"Go then. Be with that damned boy. I don't care anymore. Abandon your family for that child," Tyler spit at us, and was shoving us out the door. He slammed the door in our faces, and Makenzie started crying.
"Makenzie, it's okay. Calm down..." I said quietly, wiping away her tears. "I know where we can go and they will accept us,"
Makenzie looked up at me with tearful eyes, and her face was confused. I grabbed her hand, and began walking down to the abandon house.
"We have an unexpected guest," Alec says as we walk into the house. I closed the door, and Makenzies face was in awe.
Bentley rushed over to us, and cupped Makenzies face. His eyes became wide, and he smiled. "She's a very attractive lady," Bentley licked his lips, and let go of Makenzie. "Is this the girl you were telling us about?"
Makenzie clung to me and whispered, "Carson, who are they?"
I chuckled, and laid my head on top of hers. "That's Bentley, and the one over there is Alec," Alec waved his hand, and grinned. Makenzie and I walked over to the couch, and carefully sat down. Her arm was still healing, and I wanted her to be as gentle as possible.
"Carson Taylor, you really have outdone yourself," Alec murmured, and faced towards us. He clasped his hands together, and leaned forward. "She will be a great addition to our little group, don't you agree?"
I narrowed my eyes, and shook my head. Makenzie had a home, and this wasn't going to be it. It would do for now though. Alec and Bentley would accept her like they did with me.
"So does she have a sad backstory?" Bentley asked, walking over to where Alec was.
"Not really. Her dad just kicked us out, and he slaps the shit out of me. He doesn't really do much to Kenzie," I looked down at Makenzie, and she was fast asleep on my shoulder.
"Thats good. I'm guessing she's your girlfriend?"
I blushed. "Yeah, I guess she is,"
Alec and Bentley smiled, and then it saddened. "I used to have a wife, but she... Had to go," Bentley explained, and he glared at the ground as he was.
Alec cleared his throat. "Ben, shush. Carson going through a lot right now, and doesn't need your grief too," Bentley smiled, and nodded his head.
"I'm going to go to bed," I finally said after 5 minutes of silence. They both nodded, and went into the other room.
I laid my head down on Makenzies, laced my hand with hers, and quickly fell asleep to her heavy breathing.
