Chapter 42;

*Makenzies POV*

"Where's Carson?" I demanded as I saw Bentley coming into my hospital room. He looked exhausted, and overwhelmed. He couldn't have been more than me though. I just wanted to know where my boyfriend was.

I cradled Chase close to my chest as he laid in my arms, sleeping. He was crying ever since Carson left, and he just fell asleep. I needed Carson... Bentley walked over to the side of my bed, and stared down at Chase. He wouldn't say a word.

"Well?" I asked.

He glanced up at me, and sighed. "I don't know where Carson went,"

I became wide eyed. "So he just... Left? Chase isn't going to have a father?" I felt the tears welling up in my eyes.

"I'm not certain that he actually left, but he will most likely come back. I promise you,"

I felt the warm ters stream down my cheek, as I hugged Chase as tight as I could without waking him. "Hand me your phone," I asked quietly. Bentley did as he was told, and I quickly dialed Carsons number. The phone kept ringing, and I was about to hang up, until he picked up on the last ring.

"Hello?" he asked, huskily.

"Where the hell are you?" I said quietly.

He was silent for a few moments. "Look, Makenzie, I'm not going to leave you and Chase, okay? So don't worry about that. I will come back, but I need time..."

"Why? How much time?"

"I'll explain it to you when I'm home, and I don't know. It could be days, weeks, months..."

"It is NOT going to be no months, or weeks. I don't even want it to be days. Carson, please come see me..." I was almost bawling at this point.

I heard him grunt, and I could sense that he was clenching his fists together. He was thinking about it.

"Carson?"

"Hand me the phone," Bentley muttered, sticking his hand out for the phone. I quickly handed it to him, and I could tell Bentley was pissed. He stood up, and started walking around, yelling at Carson through the phone.

"Listen here, and you listen real closely. You are NOT about to leave Makenzie when she needs you the most. You need to stop with this 'oh, every little thing reminds me of daddy' bullshit and man up. Your dad is not going to interfer anymore, and you need to think about your son, and your girlfriend. Now get your ass over here, before I personally drag you over here. K?"

Bentley hung up the phone moments after, and placed it in his back pocket. He sat down next to me, and laced his hands together, leaning towards me. He smirked at me, and said "He's on his way,"

Chase was up, and he was crying. I tried to feed him, but he wouldn't stop crying. Bentley took him out of my arms, and took him out of the room. I have never appreciated silence this much before. I closed my eyes, and laid my head back against the pillow. I only have to be in this hospital till noon, and then I could go home. I laid with my eyes closed for a few minutes before I heard the door opening and shutting. I didn't even open my eyes. I just wanted to sleep. I soon felt a soft, cold hand over mine, and I immediately grasped it. I opened my eyes to find Carson standing above me.

He looked dead. His hair was messy, and scruffy, the bags under his eyes stood out, his piercing ice blue eyes were red from what looked like he had been crying, his clothes were all messed up, and he looked like he hasn't slept in days. He sat down in the chair that Bentley was sitting in, and didn't say a word.
