Chapter 35;
*Makenzies POV*
Carson became wide eyed and growled. His face became enraged with hatred, anger, and frustration. It was honestly really scary looking. Carson pushed me off, and jumped to his feet. He slammed the tree, and whirled his head around to face Alec and Bentley.
"Are you being fucking for real?!" Carson's voice was a low snarl, and he hit the tree again. "God damn it! That son of a bitch just won't stop, will he? Not until we're all dead!"
"We have to get out of here! Like, right now!" Alec panted, and started dragging Carson and I out of the cemetery. I could hear gun shot coming from behind us, and I knew Tyler was close behind. He was trying to scare us. Alec and Bentley started running again, with Carson and I close behind. We made it out of the cemetery just when Tyler spotted us, and we ran out onto the road.
We were running full speed. We didn't care where we went, as long as it was away from Tyler. We soon saw a little shack we could hide in that was protected by a tall gate. All four of us climbed over, and hurried into the shack right before Tyler came into view. The shack wasn't that big, and we all had to cram together to fit in it. We looked out through a peep hole in the wall to see where Tyler was.
He was walking around the street with a gun and beer bottle in his hand, and he looked like he was hunting for prey. His eyes were wild, and big. His hair was crazy, and stuck out in random places. His face with matted with blood, and sweat. He just looked disgusting... And to think... I used to love him. Tyler wandered around aimlessly, and we grew relentless. He eventually stopped his search, and headed back home.
We all let out a sigh of relief, and relaxed on the floor. I looked over at Carson, who had his face in his knees. I then looked over at Alec and Bentley who were still panting from the run.
"Where... Where did you see him?" I asked, and raised an eyebrow.
"We were checking out the grave stones up on a hill, and we spotted Tyler coming in the cemetery... I don't know if he saw us or not, but we ran like hell after that. There isn't much to it," Bentley explained, and closed his eyes.
"Why is my dad acting like this...?"
"Beats me,"
"He was never like this before-"
Carson cut in and his voice was an angry whisper. "Before I came into the family,"
I looked over at him, and his eyes were emotionless. They seemed vacant, and it looked like a mad man. "Don't say that," I sighed, and crawled over to him. He opened his arms, and welcomed me into his embrace. He laid his head on mine, and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"It's true. He even told me he hated me. They only adopted me because Danielle loved me..."
I was dumbfounded. "When did he say that?"
"A few weeks ago... Before he kicked us out.."
"I'm sorry..."
"We stopped checking for monsters under our bed, when we realized they were inside us," Bentleys voice cut in, and we glared at his sudden entrance. Ben shrugged his shoulders, and made a silly face.
That child was weird.
"Everyone has their breaking point, and I guess Tyler found his," Carson added, while kissing my head.
"I never knew my dad was this cracked..."
"Yeah, it's whatever. We're safe now, so let's all sleep,"
We all nodded, and I snuggled up to Carson. He held onto me tighter, and sighed into my hair. He started rubbing my arm, and I grabbed his hand before lacing it with mine. He looked down at me and smiled.
"I love you," He murmured.
"I... I love you too," I responded and he smiled. He then licked my cheek, and blushed. He was being silly. I don't know why he did that. I licked his, and he giggled. It was the cutest thing ever. I knew I loved him. Every ounce of my body knew that, and was shouting it out to the world.
I was in love with Carson Robert Taylor.
I knew that for a fact. I couldn't deny it now. I knew he was in love with me too. I soon realized that this was Carsons first time loving anyone since his sisters death... Once I started thinking about his sister, I soon felt guilty. I made a remark about his sister when we fought earlier, and I didn't even mean it. I was just too caught up in my own emotions to even consider his. I looked up at Carson to apologize, but he was soon fast asleep.
Just when I thought things could get better, I knew they weren't going to.
