Authors Note; since my chapters are getting messed up, I'm going to start labeling them as the title of the chapter. So people can find it easier.
Chapter 14;
*Makenzies POV*
It's been three weeks since I've been at the hospital. My rib cage still hurt like hell, but it subsided for the most part. I was laying in my bed because the doctors wanted me on bed rest for a little while until my side healed up. I was on the phone with Carter. He called me telling me he was sorry.
I couldn't forgive him.
"I will not show clemency towards you, Carter. What you've done is unforgivable and once a cheater, always a cheater."
"But baby, if you could just give me another chance..." He whined.
"To hell I will!"
"Please Mak?"
He used my nickname. Nobody ever calls me that. Ever. "Don't you dare call me that, you douchebag. I'm done with you. For good." I hung up the phone and sighed. I wanted to cry. Partly because my side was acting up and because I didn't know what to do.
I heard a knock on my door, and the person just walked right in. It was my mom. She looked confused, and disoriented. She walked over to my bed, and sat down on the edge.
"Mom..?"
She glared at me and pursed her lips. "Why're you awake?" She questioned.
"I couldn't sleep. Carter called me..."
My mom didn't like when I brought up Carter. She never liked him even when I was dating him. "What did he say?"
"He wanted to get back together. I told him to screw off and that he's not getting a second chance."
My mom let out a breath of relief, and placed her hand on my leg. "Thats good. I never liked that boy."
"I know, mom."
"Well, I'm going to go back downstairs with your father. I just came back up here to see if you were asleep." My mom got up, and left the room.
Carson suddenly came in a few minutes after, and stood awkwardly at the door. I motioned for him to come towards the bed but he refused to move.
"How're you feeling, bitch?" He asked, crossing his arms. He was back to his old self again.
"I'm fine, jackass."
He smirked. "Do you have an ugly scar? A scar that will be there your entire life? That everyone will see?" He mocked.
I didn't answer him. He was being a jerk. Carson started biting his lip, and fiddled with his fingers in the awkward silence. I sighed, and shifted my position. Bad mistake because a pain shot right through my rib cage.
I winced and Carson's eyes shot over to me, and he was by my side in an instant. He had his hand placed over my wound, and he looked in my eyes.
His eyes were so beautiful... I was jealous because mine were brown. Red hair and brown eyes... Good combo right?
"Are you alright?" He asked quietly.
"Yeah.." I breathed, "Your eyes are beautiful."
"They're my moms... I can't claim them."
"Why not?"
"I just can't... They remind me of too much pain."
I placed my hand on his cheek, and his cheek was hot. "Your eyes are beautiful." I repeated.
He sighed, and laid his head on my hand. We stayed like that for a while, until he finally stood up and started walking out of my room.
"Wait, where are you going?" I asked.
"I gotta go." He left without another word.
