I unlock the door and let everyone else in first. I shut the door and lock it behind me.
"How long has he been asleep?" I ask one of his nurses. Jamila goes over to Amir and gently caresses his face. Aaya sat beside him on the couch.
"He's been up since three this morning. He couldn't sleep. Nightmares," she whispered.
"Did he take his meds yet?" I ask.
"Not yet. The chef is finishing up his breakfast. We usually give him his meds and supplements with each meal," she explained.
I thank her for the update and walk to the kitchen. His chef greets me, "Hey boss."
I greet him back. "Is Amir eating well?" I ask.
"For the most part. Most of the time he'll three fourths of his plate. He's never actually finished a dish I made him yet."
"What is he having today?" I ask.
"French toast, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, grits, and apple juice." He listed off and plated his french toast.
"What's for lunch?" I ask.
"Grilled cheese and tomato soup."
"Dinner?"
"Steak, rice, a baked potato, and asparagus," He answered.
His nurse came in the kitchen. "How much weight has he gained?" I ask.
"Four pounds so far. He's starting to eat better, so he should be gaining more weight soon," she tells me and puts his meds on his food tray.
"I can take it to him," I tell her. She hands me the tray and I go to the living room.
I place his food on the table. "How have you've been feeling?" I ask.
"Better," he tells me. "I stopped throwing up and I don't have the chills anymore." He might not have the chills, but he was still jumpy. He can't sit still.
"We missed you at Thanksgiving," Liliana said.
"Yeah, I wish I could've came. I didn't want to get anyone sick, especially Val's baby," he said and grabbed his meds.
"Are you okay?" Jamila asks. "You're shaking."
He nods with a small smile, "I'm just a little cold that's all."
Jamila takes her coat off and puts it on his shoulders.
"What are those for?" Aaya asks.
"Supplements and vitamins to help him get better," I tell her.
Jamila strokes his hair back, "Have you been sleeping okay?"
Amir nods and takes a bite of french toast. "All I do is sleep really."
