I was hardly conscious from what I could tell. The world around me was cloudy and my vision was feint. All I could see was that I was being carried by someone who appeared to be running at an incredibly fast pace. At that point, I had one hope left in the world.
"Gre... Greninja?" I winced.
"There's no time to explain, Damian. I need to concentrate on escaping right now," his voice gave me a feeling of joy behind my fear.
"What... Why are we running?"
"Team Plasma is after us, I said I will explain everything when it's safe, now remain quiet," he scolded.
Greninja ran. And ran. And ran some more. And ran more than that. As my conscious state slowly came back, I noticed that the cuffs and collar were removed, and I saw that Buniot was scampering swiftly behind us.
As they ran, carrying me in the process, an hour passed. Then an hour became two, then three, then suddenly it was daybreak. I hadn't spotted a glance of Team Plasma or any threats for that matter. After running for almost 9 hours straight, Greninja slowed his pace and gently placed me on the ground.
"Okay... We should be safe here," he stated.
I looked around at the area, and it was definitely not familiar in any way. There were foreign looking trees and Pokemon I'd never seen before.
Buniot was completely out of breath.
"Why did we run so far? We lost em way back..." I started.
Greninja scowled, "Damian, this will be troubling news to you and I'm sorry you must hear this from me. But..." Greninja sighed deeply, "Azelf instructed me to take you and Buniot and leave. To get as far away as possible from your home region so that they do not catch you. There is no return to your home at this point, for Team Plasma has all of their agents on the lookout for you. I'm sorry... But you cannot return. Azelf told me that she cannot speak to us, nor her sisters for that matter, from this distance. We need to get as far away from Team Plasma as possible."
"Wait... You mean... I can never go back...?" I asked, shuddering.
"No, that is not what I said. However... To be safe... It will take over a year before we return."
My eyes widened, and my arms slumped down.
"A year...? Why so long?"
"Because your training will not be complete until then."
"Training? I can't see anyone I love because of my training!?" I exclaimed.
"Don't raise your voice at me, Damian! It is partially because of your actions we are in this situation!" Greninja snapped.
"My act-" I stopped as a sudden realization struck.
He was right. I was safe before, and so was Buniot. It only took them two weeks to figure out but... They found Buniot and I. They never would have suspected I was nearby if I hadn't attacked them.
The thought of it all made me despise myself. I lost my home, and everyone I could ever care for is now out of my grasp. It didn't only affect me, but Buniot as well. And that only made me feel shallow inside. Because of me, they know where Buniot lives. He lost his home because of my actions, not to mention Greninja who went out of his way to save me.
"Oh my Arceus... You're... You're right... This is all my fault I... Buniot, I'm so sorry."
"Don't sweat it dude. I'll just get-"
"No, Buniot! Because of me, you've lost everything you loved! Your home was all you had left! I put you in danger and and and... I just..." Tears began to well my eyes as I continued to speak, "I wouldn't blame you it you didn't want to be my friend anymore."
