"Yah! Choi Chanhee quit cheating!" Yeri screamed as she threatened the boy next to her with the controller in her hand.

"It's Mario kart you can't cheat!" He yelled back before scooting away from the suddenly aggressive girl.

The two fell silent as they focused on placing higher in the game than the other. After a minute or so, the karts made it past the finish line, leaving the two to argue about who was truly better.

"That was just luck..." Yeri mumbled. She set her controller down and pretended to not care that Chanhee got first place and she didn't. "I know deep down in my soul I'm better..."

"You're so full of yourself..." Chanhee muttered.

A loud gasp echoed through the room as Yeri threw herself at the older boy. "Say that to my face!" She screeched as they wrestled on the floor.

"You're a narcissist!" He said tauntingly when he pinned her down for a split second.

But of course, Chanhee ultimately lost the skirmish since they both knew he had the upper body strength of a small child. "Just admit I'm beautiful and perfect!"

"You wish..." Chanhee said quietly before letting his body go limp.

"What the hell are you two doing? It sounds like you're trying to break through the floor!" Chanhee's mother exclaimed when she walked into the room.

Yeri quickly let go of the boy and played innocent, "When we were playing this game he stole my controller and made me lose...he's so terrible to me."

"You snake!" Chanhee hissed.

"I don't know why I bother trying to control the two of you..." the woman groaned, "Just take it easy and don't actually break through the floor."

Yeri sent her a sweet smile, "Of course Mrs Choi~" the second Chanhee's mother closed the door, the smile on her lips fell and she let out a groan, "have your parents said anything about divorcing recently? Your mom gets prettier every time I see her."

"Somebody needs to put you in a mental hospital..." Chanhee grumbled.

Paying no attention to the elders words, Yeri decided to change the subject, "What are you doing for break?"

Chanhee took a few seconds to think before shrugging, "I don't think I'm really doing anything."

"C'mon! We have two weeks off before second semester and you're going to spend it laying around?"

"Yes."

"You're a loser."

Rolling his eyes, Chanhee continued, "What are you doing?"

"My parents want to go to the states," she said in almost a bored tone, "maybe I can find a boyfriend while I'm there."

"Ouuu, Katy is making a comeback?" He asked, referring to the trip her family took to America only months prior.

"Oh shut it, New."

The week went by faster than any of the students had anticipated. Before they knew it, the school bell rang and they were free for the next two weeks.

Unlike the other kids who instinctively ran to their friends to make plans of when and where they were getting drunk that evening, Younghoon drove home alone.

"Why aren't you at practice?" His father asked the second he stepped foot in his room.

"Practice doesn't start up again until after break."

"You wouldn't lie to me, right son?"

Younghoon shook his head, eyes fixed on the shining hardwood floors, "no sir."

"Good thing there's a court in the yard for you to practice on over break," the man said bluntly before shooing Younghoon away.

The boy plodded over to his room and flopped on his bed. He so desperately wanted to take a nap, but he wasn't sure what his father would do if he was caught sleeping in the middle of the day.

"How was school?"

Quickly sitting up, Younghoon saw his mother standing in the doorway. "It was fine," he said quietly.

The woman walked over and sat down on the edge of the bed. She reached out and placed a hand on the side of his face, "You look so pale. Have eaten anything today?"

He nodded, "I'm just tired, mom."

"I know, honey," she said sympathetically, knowing how harsh her husband was on their son, "I'll talk to him about that practicing during break thing. You need to rest after working so hard for months."

"I don't know why he pushes me so hard...I don't plan on even playing basketball after highschool. I only have one semester left," Younghoon muttered.

A soft smile formed on her lips, "You've done very well, Younghoon, we're both proud of you."

"Then why did you leave the one game of the season you came to?" Younghoon spoke as he looked down at the comforter underneath him.

The woman sighed, "I'm sorry I left...your father he jus—"

"You're allowed to do what you want, mom, but you still left," Younghoon said quietly, trying not to let his emotions get too out of hand, "so many people told me I was the star of the game, but I came home and my father told me I embarrassed him and you...you acted like you were never there to begin with."

"Younghoon—"

Younghoon's eyes brimmed with tears as he said, "Just stop pretending like you care about me and not your husbands approval." She sat there silently for a few moments before getting up and leaving the room.

Younghoon let out a harsh breath as one singular tear raced down his cheek. He quickly wiped it away and tried to compose himself. He never meant to be such an asshole to his mother but sometimes he just didn't understand how she could sit there and condone everything he did.

"I just need to shower..." he whispered to himself, hoping that just maybe the water would wash him clean of all his problems.
