"I thought your dad was going kill you," Chanhee cried as he hid his face in Younghoon's chest, taking in the scent that he'd missed so much, "you're such an idiot.""I'm okay," Younghoon whispered. He didn't care what his face looked like or how badly his ribs ached, he was okay. He tightened his arms around Chanhee and nuzzled his face into the boy's blue hair.
"You look horrible," Chanhee whimpered as he lifted his head to look at the boy, "your pretty face..."
"I was hoping the first things you would say would be that I look horrible and that I'm an idiot."
"Did Chanhee say your dad? Did your dad do this to you?"
Younghoon looked at Mrs Choi with wide eyes and quickly shook his head. "No—it has nothing to do with my parents."
"If you need help, Younghoon, I will call the police. You can stay here for all I care."
"You can't—my dad has money. There's no way they would be able to convict him of anything. Plus I'm sure if I said anything he would get Juyeon's family to press charges."
"Juyeon?" Mr Choi spoke up, "what does that disrespectful little punk have to do with any of this?"
A sigh fell from Younghoon's lips, knowing he would have to tell Chanhee's parents the truth sooner or later. "Juyeon and I used to be friends. As of today it's safe to say we aren't anymore. I punched him...once or twice."
"Younghoon," Mrs Choi scolded as if he was her own son, "violence doesn't solve a damn thing. It never has."
"He said something about Chanhee," the boy admitted, "he said a lot about him actually and that...it just felt like the only thing I could do."
"I still don't get what this has to do with your father. Did Juyeon beat you up? Why are you messed up?"
Chanhee sighed at his fathers words and grabbed one of Younghoon's hands. "I'm sure it's been a hell of a day for him—no more questions."
"Language." The man groaned weakly after the two as Chanhee dragged Younghoon of the room.
When they got in his room, Chanhee gestured for the boy to sit on his bed. Younghoon did as he was told and sat still while Chanhee looked over his face.
The two looked at each other for some time, Chanhee's hands still resting on the boy's face. A soft smile flickered across his face before he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the elder's lips, careful of the broken skin on the right side of his bottom lip.
He pulled away from the elder and asked, "are you actually okay? Does your dad know?"
"Yeah," Younghoon whispered, a sad smile resting on his lips, "I told him I loved you and that it wasn't going to change."
Chanhee nodded weakly at Younghoon's words, his eyes quickly fluttering up to the ceiling as they welled with tears.
"I got beat up but you're the one crying," the elder teased as he placed his hands on Chanhee's hips, just wanting to hold him in any way possible.
Chanhee let out a soft laugh before he broke down. He leaned down and placed his head on Younghoon's shoulder, sobbing as the elder cradled the back of his head.
"Oh Chanhee..." Younghoon whispered, "I've never missed somebody as much as I've missed you."
He let himself get pulled down to sit on the bed next to Younghoon, keeping his face hidden in the elder's shoulder. "You're not allowed to leave. I won't let you go home ever again."
"I think I'll have to go home at some point. It'll be okay."
"This is my fault," Chanhee said as he finally lifted his head, "when we got in that stupid argument it was because I told you that sometimes I wished we could tell people—and now everybody knows. The whole school already knows."
"Chanhee, I didn't tell those idiots I loved you because you wanted me to. I told them because I don't care who knows. Actually, I wish the whole world knew how I felt."
"Idiot..." Chanhee whispered, "I feel like that's our word."
A smile spread across Younghoon's lips, "how romantic."
"Even after everything I said to you—you still love me?"
"I don't know much about love...I never have...but I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to stop loving you."
"I'm sorry for the things I said. You care about things other than yourself. If anybody in the world does, it's you. I was angry...and I know I can be a real jerk when I get mad."
"Are you still mad?"
The younger shrugged and took some time to think about it. "I think you scared the shit out of me, Younghoon. When Yeri called me and told me that you punched Juyeon and told him we were dating—I just couldn't think straight. I just kept thinking his dad is going to kill him...but no matter how scared I was it helped me realize that losing you for good would be the worst thing that could happen to me."
"Let's fix things then," Younghoon proposed softly, "I'm not saying we have to go back to dating right this second, but can we at least stop ignoring each other?"
"I can do that," there was a few seconds of silence before Chanhee hummed, "but I still need a little bit of an explanation for everything."
"You mean why I broke up with you?"
"I mean that but I mean everything, Younghoon."
✨✨✨
The two spent all evening talking and talking about everything. Younghoon even told Chanhee about his brother, he'd never told anybody about his older brother.
"Can Younghoon spend the night?" Chanhee asked his parents softly, trying to put on his most compelling smile.
His parents shared a look as if they could speak to each other telepathically. Mr Choi shook his head at his wife. The woman only smiled before turning towards them and saying, "Yes, but Younghoon has to sleep on the couch."
