"Yah! Kim Younghoon!"
Younghoon spun around at the sound of his name to see Yeri barreling towards him through the hallway and Chanhee not too far behind. "Yes?" He asked skeptically, not quite sure what he had done to enrage the girl.
"Yeri..." Chanhee whispered as he yanked on the girl's arm, "please don't say anything—you're going to embarrass me."
"Who do you think you are!?" She yelled at Younghoon, completely ignoring her friends pleas.
Eyebrows furrowing together in confusion, Younghoon shrugged, "I don't understand."
An annoyed laugh slipped out of the girl before he hissed, "I'm Chanhee's best friend and there is no way I'm letting somebody like you near him."
Younghoon hummed, the situation finally clicking. He sent the girl a smile. "Chanhee may have told you what I said...which I have no problem with..." pausing so he could lean down, he continued now face to face with her, "but it has nothing to do with you, yeah? He can think for himself."
Chanhee's cheeks turned red when he heard Younghoon's words. He knew Yeri well which meant he was well aware she had no fear of things getting physical. "Guys—" he started only to be cut off.
"You're an asshole—I would never trust you around Chanhee!"
"And you put yourself in situations where you don't belong."
"I swear to god, Younghoon, if you so much as look at him the wrong way I'll end you," Yeri hissed before finally stomping away.
Being left behind, Chanhee stood awkwardly against the lockers, glancing up at Younghoon every few seconds. "I'm really sorry about that..." he whispered.
"No...don't worry about it. I probably deserved it—y'know saying I'd be your best friend."
A quiet laugh slipped past Chanhee's lips as he shrugged. "I didn't think there was anything wrong with that."
Trying to hide the smile forming on his, Younghoon looked down at his shoes. "I've got to get to class, but I'll see you sixth hour," he said quietly.
Chanhee hummed, "yeah."
Before he could walk away, Younghoon turned around and said, "I think I even remember what you taught me."

A small sigh fell from Chanhee's lips as he drove home alone. He had tried to get Yeri to come over after school, but her mother had already made plans for the night. And although Younghoon claimed he was going to be a good friend, Chanhee wasn't brave enough to ask if he wanted to hang out.
Younghoon hadn't done anything wrong since he dramatically promised to be a good friend to him, but Chanhee wasn't completely sure if he trusted the elder. He desperately wanted to believe that Younghoon meant what he said, but it was hard.
Maybe Younghoon's words were sincere, but there was always the lingering thought in the back of Chanhee's mind that it was some kind of prank. The boys on the basketball team in particular always had somebody against him regardless of if there was a good reason to. The fact that Younghoon was the star of the school terrified him.
But perhaps Chanhee truly was overthinking and the two would grow to be best friends no matter how unlikely it seems to be.

"I don't mind practicing with you, Younghoon, but the season is over..." Juyeon grumbled as he walked into the gymnasium as set his backpack down, "have you ever heard of a break?"
"Got to stay in shape," Younghoon said as he threw the basketball at his friend.
Luckily, Juyeon was paying attention enough to jump to the right and avoid getting decapitated. "This is why nobody like playing with you—you're mean," the younger pouted, rubbing the side of his head as if he actually got hit.
"I'm just testing your skills"
"You're just being a bully," he grumbled. He stomped over to grab the ball before gently passing back to the elder. "Why're you really here? Did you just say you didn't want to play in college?" Juyeon asked.
Passing the ball back to him, Younghoon shrugged. "I'm not really sure yet...and I have to be prepared for whatever I decide."
"You sounded pretty sure two weeks ago."
"My dad wants me to play," Younghoon admitted as he watched Juyeon shoot the ball and miss the hoop by what looked like miles, "And I guess I should just be grateful for the offers I'm getting instead of throwing them away."
Giving up, Juyeon laid down in the middle of the court and looked up into the lights. "I get wanting to make your dad happy...but you have to live the rest of your life. He doesn't."
Younghoon rolled the basketball across the court before sitting down next to the younger. "I know but my father he...he isn't very easy to persuade."
"I'd rather somebody who actually wants to play take your spot at college than for you to play half-assed the whole time."
"Thanks, Juyeon, that's so comforting."
"Anytime." There was a stretch of silence between the two before Juyeon rolled on his side to face the elder. "So how's it going with your girl?"
Scoffing at his words, Younghoon was glad he wasn't holding a basketball anymore or he might have hit the boy for real this time. "Will you shut up about that!" He hissed.
A smirk formed on the younger's lips, "you're the one that told us she was at the game. Otherwise we would've left you alone."
"You keep saying we but you're the only one being annoying."
"Ah...you're so harsh—I'm just curious."
"It's none of your business," Younghoon stated harshly, "so stop asking."
Finally sitting up, Juyeon pretended as if Younghoon hadn't said a word. "Do I know her? Does she go to school here?"
"I'm going to kill you..." Younghoon whispered, "If you ask me one more question I will strangle you."
A frown formed on Juyeon's lips before he got up and jogged over to where the ball had rolled in the corner. "Let's just play then if you're going to be like that."
