That midnight drive that we had was the piece of peace that kept me going for more workdays.
I was focusing on one topic of a particular subject when someone knocked on my office's door.
Well, it's my breaktime but still, it's not a good example.
"Come in."
"Good afternoon."
He's wearing his dress shirt with its first three buttons open, showing a peek of his hard chest. The cuffs were also folded up until his elbows, showing the light matting of hair on his forearms and the veins that noticeably protruded there.
"Your team told me you didn't go out for your lunch," sabi niya 'saka pinasadahan ng tingin ang table ko na puno ng patong-patong na papel.
He nodded and went near me after putting the paper bag on my coffee table.
He then crouched just to a plant a feathery kiss on my forehead.
I closed my eyes momentarily.
"I dropped by to bring you lunch."
But he dropped by?
"Are you having trouble with work? Classes? I can help you with that." He looked extra attentive as he examined my expression.
I smiled upon his worry 'saka ako umiling. Kaya ko naman, it's just that Dad's office sent me another loads of paper today, na ngayon din ang due.
"I'm fine. Ikaw? Did you have your lunch already? 'Di ba sabi mo may meeting pa kayo sa company ngayong alas dos?"
I watched him as he got out lunch boxes from the paper bag he brought. It was all complete with main course, desserts, and drinks.
"I didn't have lunch yet. I want to eat with you. Besides, I still have an hour left before that meeting."
Something about our set up tugged my heart.
He chuckled with my sudden action. His right hand gently held my left elbow while his right hand slightly brushed my hair. I pursed my lips and hugged him tighter.
"What's wrong baby, hmm?" he whispered on my ear soothingly.
"Did something make you upset today? You can tell me," marahan niyang dagdag.
"Wala, let's just stay like this for a while," namamaos na sagot ko.
