Wednesday Morning
Azreal woke up early and headed downstairs. But when he flicked on the lights to the living room, he stopped dead. His breathing became ragged. He fell to his knees, clutching his head... and screamed.
Cassiel was in the chair, but he had been gutted from his chest to stomach. The symbols where carved into his chest, and it was obvious he was dead. His eyes were burnt out of his skull, a clear sign this had been done by an Angel blade. The door was wide open and the trap to it was gone.
The whole house jolted awake at the scream. Blacklight looked over and put her hand over her mouth. "Oh my God-" she muttered. Azreal stumbled over, putting his hands on both sides of Cassiel's face. "Cassie... Cassie no please brother, you can't do this, I still need you." He sobbed. "W-wake up, please, wake up." He put his head against Cass's, closing his eyes with one hand.
Phoenix and Star stumbled down. "W-what going on, who-" Star muttered, then her eyes widened. Phoenix almost puked, growing nauseous at the sight of the organs. "Oh my God, what the fuck." She looked terrified, realizing they weren't safe here.
Gluzze came down confused, and Blacklight just stood there not knowing what to do. Azreal turned, his form flickering. Everyone suddenly felt that chest-clenching fear. He summoned Trivia. "Who did it." He growled, eyes completely black. "WHO KILLED HIM?"
Blacklight stood back, terrified. "I-I don't know-" she said. Az growled and approached her. "You where the only one in here." He snarled, gripping her collar. "I swear I didn't!" She said, eyes going wide as she went semi-transparent, Az's hand going right through the collar as she went back to normal, stepping back.
"Azreal, calm down, please-" Star tried. "CALM DOWN?! Not until I find whoever did this." He was trembling, turning to the door. He made a rift and carefully picked up Cassiel, walking through it and heading straight towards Odin's palace. Cassiel isn't gone- no, Odin will be able to restore him. He has to.
Once he was on the main island, people instantly recognized him and Cass and moved out of the way, muttering behind his back. He didn't care. When Azreal reached Odin's throne room he threw open the doors, and the room went silent. Odin tilted his head. "What are you doing." He asked. "Can you not- my brother is dead." Azreal growled, regaining his old form. "Azreal. You are banished, and no one is allowed on Earth." He said. "If you convinced Cassiel to go to Earth, where he was around Angel blades, then this matter is out of my hands." Odin continued.
"Screw that! Give him back to me." Azreal yelled. Odin approached him slowly, and took Cassiel from him. Azreal didn't want to let him go, but relucatantly handed him over. Azreal looked at Cass's face again, finally taking the situation in. "I can't." Odin said. "You what?" He bared his teeth.
"I can't." He repeated. "Now leave Valhalla before I kill you too." Azreal was shocked, but swung Trivia and disappeared. He landed near the drop-off and just yelled for a few seconds. "THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT." He yelled, before collapsing to his knees. "Who would take Cassiel away? H-he's..."
Cassiel was the best person he had ever known. He was sweet, observant, reserved, and caring. He always surprised him and protected whoever he thought deserved it. Who would take someone as special as him away from this world?
He paced in anger, wanting to fight. He wanted to find who did this. Just think; it has to be Jaguar. Who the fuck else would it be? He thought, spreading his wings. When he found Jaguar, he would make him pay.
He spread his wings, flying back to the ruins of the laboratory. There was no one there, but the lab itself had been refused to rubble. It was still very hot. He poked around the ash until he found a set of familiar footprints sinking into the ashen earth, a light tail mark after it. It has to be him. He thought.
He followed the footprints for as long as he could, before eventually having to rely on scent. After he was away from the lab, he could make out a smoky scent trailing through the forest, then coming out right beside and apartment complex.
He found the correct apartment, kicking the door in. He scented Jaguar, and someone else he couldn't make out. Also ashy. He looked around, there was nothing. He wasn't there. He growled, exiting the room, trying to track him to where ever he ran off to.
After he got to the parking lot Azreal lost the scent. "Fuck." He cursed. Tears threatened to spill again, he didn't know what to think, what to do. He headed back to the house, still shaken. He entered the house, glaring at them before heading upstairs to his room. He sat down, staring at the floor. He- I... his mind was blank. He felt numb. In the two millennia he had been alive, he had never even thought that Cassiel wouldn't be here. Now, I'm truly alone for once.
Tears openly streamed down his face as he remembered all the people that had left him throughout the years. He always had Cassiel to turn to after each death, each traumatizing event he had been through. If only I had been down there, maybe I could've protected him. He's done so much for me, and in turn I've done so little. I can't believe he's- he shut his thoughts down, trying to clear his head.
