When Azreal calmed down enough to think, he stole Gluzze's phone, which she obviously wasn't using. He had noticed her passcode, and once he was on it, he scrolled through the contacts and found Trippze's number, texting him. 'Cass is dead. This is Az.' He sent, hoping for a reply.
He kept the device on him as he went back downstairs. The news was still on, saying something about a plane crash above the Pacific Ocean. He didn't really pay attention till they started listing deaths, and he froze when he heard Trippze's name among them.
He glanced at Echo. "Did it say exactly where that was?" He asked. Echo glanced up, startled. "Yeah, somewhere around a reef in-" Az was already gone, straight back up the stairs. He summoned Trivia and made a slash across the wall.
He took a running leap through it, spreading his wings and catching the salty wind, above an ocean. It wasn't deep where he was, because there was an underwater cliff, on the topside a reef and then the cliff went down seemingly forever. He could only make portals to places he had been and could visualize in detail; this had been a place where he had been frequently. It was a coral reef in the Atlantic Ocean that had nearly sunk a few of the ships he had sailed on in the past.
He hovered for a moment, before catching a glimpse of a faint red glow fading in and out. Dutchie egg. He folded his wings and dove into the cold water, holding his breath and he sank, before swimming towards it. He was around 50 feet deep before he grabbed the egg, running out of air. He held on tight and narrowed his eyes, using his wings to get back up to the surface. Once he did he floated on his back, trying to breathe steady again while clutching the egg. "What- what happened?" He asked aloud, knowing no one would respond.
Trippze's egg started shaking as a small crack appeared. "You've got to be kidding me." Azreal muttered, looking up. He hoped he could make it back up with his feathers soaked, he honestly didn't know if portals worked in water. Plus wouldn't the water all go washing in the house too?
The crack started getting bigger, and Azreal decided to go for it, flipping forward and flapping his wings after catching a wind. He shakily caught it and he made it though the portal, rolling on the floor but ending up in his back. He groaned in pain for a second. "Better be worth it." He said, looking down.
Trippze's paw stuck out from the crack and wiggled around trying to get the rest of himself out. Azreal sat up right and peeled the crack back, trying to help.
The dragon eventually managed to break through the crack and crawl out then looked around sniffing the air and looked up at Azreal tilting his head.
Azreal sighed. "What happened?" He asked, not knowing if he could respond or not. Trippze yawned and started jumping around. Azreal sighed. "Greeeat." Before walking to the closet, getting dry clothes, then the door. "Stay here, I'm getting changed, 'kay?" He said, looking back.
Trippze ran around the room on all fours occasionally running into a bedpost. Azreal quickly got changed then went back to the room. He watched Trippze for a second. "This is a disaster, why do you have so much energy?" He asked, puzzled.
Trippze ran up to Azreal and tried to climb up his legs Azreal yelped and grabbed him, holding him up. "Okay, chill, please." He said, trying to catch his attention. I can't do this! I'm not parent material! Especially not now! He thought.
Trippze looked at Azreal and tilted his head. Azreal took a breath. "Okay, so like, are you hungry or something?" He asked. It was clear he had no idea how to deal with kids. Trippze tried to squeak out a yes.
Az took that as an affirmative squeak and carried him downstairs, poking around the kitchen for food. "Uh, what if I just made a sandwich?" He asked.
Echo looked up, glanced down, then glanced back up quickly. "What- when- how-" Azreal looked over. "Which one you gonna use?" He asked flatly. "When did you get him and why?" Echo asked.
Trippze looked at Echo and tilted his head then turned his head back to Azreal and squeaked again. Azreal growled at Echo. "Why not? Leave me alone." he said, then put Trippze down to make a pb&j. Not dealing with their crap~ he hummed to the thought.
Trippze ran over to Echo and started weaving between his legs. Echo looked down. "What are you doing?" He asked. Trippze looked up at Echo and smiled then continued to run between his legs. "Done." Azreal said after cutting the sandwich into fourths.
Trippze ran over to Azreal and sat at his feet waiting for the food. Azreal picked him up and sat him at the table and set the food infront of him. Trippze stared down at the plate and started to scarf the food down
Azreal watched him, his mind racing. I can't believe some freak accident killed him. Now we're stuck with three kids. Thank god they were all Dutchies... though I can't say the same for Cass or Firetail. He thought. What am I supposed to do? No one here can stand Trippze, and I can't just leave him now... ugh, fuck, I may have to sneak him into Asgard. Once I'm unbanned, of course.
Trippze finished the food and burped then spread his wings and glided off of the table, starting to run around again. Azreal watched him for a second before going back to his room, leaving the door just barely cracked, before curling on the bed. It was just really hitting him for the first time that Cass was gone, and he wasn't coming back. He muffled his tears with the pillow, not wanting anyone to hear.
