"KAKASHI, NOOOOOOO!!!"

"Kakashi please wake up!"

"Please!!"

"Please, Kakashi, you said that you'll see me soon!!"

"I need you, I need more then you'll ever know!"

"I love you!"

The sound of Mai's voice as she pleaded for me to wake up rang through my ears.

There was absolutely nothing I could do about it.

My conscience was well awake, but I couldn't move my body.

She held on to my hand not wanting to let go.

It has been four days.

She hasn't left, she hasn't slept, she hasn't even eaten.

Asami came to her side pleading for her to take a break.

She didn't answer to him or anyone.

She just wanted to be by my side.

It broke my heart seeing her like this. She didn't deserve this.

*Mai's POV*

Over the course of four days, I've said "I love you" to this man over and over again.

Who knew the brink of death could make one appreciate life and the importance of confessing.

I hated myself for not telling him earlier.

I promised myself I wouldn't leave his side.

Asami grew extremely concerned as he kept telling me to go and get some rest.

"Asami, I can't leave him, I'm his wife, he needs me!"

"I love him, and right now the only I want to do is be my his side!" I said as I teared up.

"Mai, I've sent word, you'll have help soon. I can't stand seeimg you distressed again!" He said as he walked off in frustration.

Not long Lady Hokage walked in.

She was in charge of healing him.

I bowed and spoke;

"Lady Hokage,"

"Mai, you need to get some re-,"

"I need to know if he's going to be ok, I don't need to rest, I just need to know!" I said fighting back tears.

"I've done everything possible and made sure to extract the key potents in the forbidden jutsu out of his body. It's now up to him and how his body will respond," she said as she gave me a quick hug.

"He's going to be ok Mai!"

She said as she said her goodbyes and left with the other nurses. Leaving the two of us alone.

He's a strong fighter, and now more the ever I needed him to fight.

I hated seeing him like this.

I sat back down beside him as I placed my face in my hands and whispered, "Kakashi!"

A small knock came from the door.

"Who is it?" I called out.

It was Genma.

"Mai, you need to rest!" He said softly as a concerned look ran across his face.

"Genma, I can't!!" I yelled.

"Mai, I get it you're worried and scared, but you need to take care of your well-being too!" He said firmly.

"He wouldn't want to see you like!"

I took a deep breath. I knew he was right.

"Genma, do you think he'd forgive me if I told him the truth?"

He laughed,

"Do you think he'd forgive me?!" He asked back.

"I'm his friend, I messed up the moment I agreed to-,"

He was interrupted as the door swung open.

"Lady Mai!"

Saya said as she, Akira and my Mother barged in.

I was dumbfounded.

My mother walked in and hugged me. Shrugging off Genma.

Genma just bowed his head and excused himself out as he was ignored.

"Sweetheart you need to get some rest. Before you protest, me and Saya will be by his side. He will be in our care." She said as Saya nodded in agreement.

"I can see how much you love this man, but I need you to understand that your wellbeing is just as important."

As much as I wanted to protest I knew there was no arguing with my Mother. I trusted these woman with my life, and so I knew he'd be in good hands.

"Thank you!" Was all I said as I walked over to Kakashi and kissed him before leaving with Akira.

*Kakashi's POV*

As her Mother and handmaidens walked in all my mind could think of was her and Genma's conversation.

It replayed in my mind like an endless reel.

The way he spoke to her with such concern.

The evening we had our date.

The way he looked at her and how she looked visibly guilty.

By now he'd probably get with her.

I should've known he'd try and pull something like this.

My damn suspicions were right!

Genma and her had a thing...
