Chapter 26: The Rescue

*Kakashi's POV*

Lady Akari's words strung across my mind as we stepped in.

A blood curdling scream filled the air as me and Shizune looked at each other. It was Mai.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" She screamed again as we all raced through the maze like dimension.

"Lord Sixth, over here!!!" One of the ANBU's called out.

Asami was kneeling down.

"SHIZUNE HURRY UP!!"

"Lord Sixth we're late they've escaped!!"

My soul left my body as my eyes made sense of the sight before me...

Mai was covered in blood in the middle of the room with two katana's perfectly stood right through her stomach.

Shizune took off to her side, ordering the men to carefully take out the blades and carry her on the stretcher as she began healing Mai.

"We need to get her out and to the hospital NOW!!!" Shizune screamed.

Mai was unconscious, her body was severely underweight.

Asami stood guard as she was carried out. 

I still couldn't move as Asami came beside me and spoke, "we need to go, my Mother can't hold it for much longer!

My head was spinning!

"Go straight to the hospital!!" Was all that Asami said as we jumped before the portal closed.

*Mini time skip to hospital*

*Tsunade's POV*

"Good job Shizune, you held her out for this long. If you hadn't gone we'd lose her!" I said as I Shizune stood beside the unconscious woman.

"Lady Tsunade... the baby?"

I took a deep breath.

"She lost the baby, those swords pierced through her and the baby." I said as I fought back tears.

"We're going to clean her up and have a deliver the baby."

Shizune had tears in her eyes. "It's my fault. If Kakashi hadn't gone to see Kento, the two of them would've been alive." She said between sobs.

"Shizune, this was out of your control. You couldn't have known that this was bound to happen." I said trying to comfort her.

Kakashi burst through the doors.

"Hatake I need you to get out!!" I shouted at him as he walked in.

"The baby!?" Was all he said.

Me and Shizune looked at each other.

"You need to go out now!" I said again as he stepped out.

*Kakashi's POV*

Asami and I stood in silence as we wait.

I held on to the hope that both of them are fine and will make full recovery.

After several painstaking minutes Lady Tsunade walked out.

We both ran over to her.

"We need to talk!" Was all she said as we all made our way to the sitting area.

"Kakashi before you go in there I need you to understand she is not the same woman as before. She has been badly injured."
