Chapter 18: Troubles

*Kakashi's POV*

I couldn't think properly as I laid in bed.

I tossed and turned. I thought I'd feel nothing about it but it bothered me.

As I finally fell asleep the same terrors I faced before gladly opened it's arms to me again.

The moment I did the nightmares came. I woke up drenched in sweat. My whole body trembled as I clenched my fist trying to catch my breath. I needed her. Now more then ever.

I checked the time, it was 3am as I got out of bed  and made my way to her room.

I walked in not bothering to knock.

She was sitting in front of the window staring at the moon, tears flowed down her face.

I hated situations like these because I didn't know how to handle them. It was frustrating.

"Mai, you need to cut it out!"

"This has gone way too far!" I said sounding rude and annoyed.

"And you need to get out of my room!" She screamed.

Her eyes were heavy. She was broken.  By the looks of it she has been crying ever since our earlier encounter.

"Why are you acting like this is my fault?" I said in a hushed tone as I could feel my frustration kicking in.

She turned to me. The look in her eyes.

"BECAUSE IT IS YOUR FAULT!"

"Do you think I'd be fine with this, with you coming home with those!! I know we made the rule, but heck, it's different now. You're the only man that has made me feel some sort of way! The only man I want to be with, The ONLY FREAKING MAN I LOVE!!"

"I WANT YOU AND ONLY YOU!!"

"But nooooo, the moment you wake up you decided to fuck the next girl you come across, or maybe it was Hanare!!" She screamed loud enough for the whole village to hear.

What does Hanare have to do with all this!

"But I can't do much about it right!"

"Because even if you're the first guy for me, I'm not your first right! I can never satisfy you or make you happy, righttt, RIGHTTTT!???? She screamed and then cried.

"That's cheap, coming from the so-called virgin sleeping with my friend, right?!!"

"EXCUSE ME!!!!" She yelled.

"You heard me, I know you've sneaking out during the day to see and probably fuck Genma, I know all about it. I've been coming back home during lunch to check on you but you weren't here!"

"He fucked you so good and even gave you necklace! I saw it in the dresser! How'd you think I'd feel knowing you hid this all from me!"

"What, you're speechless now Mai!!"

"I saw the way he looked at you!! I heard the two of you talking in the hospital, you think I'd forgive the two of you for something like that!!"  I said as my voice softened.

This wasn't me. I realized but it was too late.

"Why would you care!" She said sternly.

"Huh?" Was the only thing that came out of my mouth.

"It's not like you love me right?"

"You said it yourself, you've never formed an attachment or bond with anyone. So why would YOU CARE!!!"

"YOU CAN NEVER LOVE ME, SO WHY DO YOU CARE???!!!" She screamed as her eyes swelled with tears.

She shook her head,

"I can't do this right-,"

She said as I cut her off.

"NOT LOVE YOU!!"

"I'M LIKE THIS BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE YOU!"

"You're the only reason why I kept going and wanted to live, the thought of you being with another man killed me."

"I know I'm not the ideal husband, but I was supposed to be your first!"

"I wanted to be your first,... and last,"

"I love you so much Mai, you have no idea!" I said as I lowered my gaze. I was defeated.

I just needed her to reject me so that I can go back to my simple life before.

She walked towards the bed, sat down, took a deep breath and spoke;

"I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry!"

"Just let me finish before you speak, I need you to listen!" She said softly.

I just nodded.

"I'm not seeing Genma, what you heard was just a misunderstanding."

"You see, Genma found out I was working at the Library and he wanted to tell you, I made him swear he wouldn't and he felt bad that we had to keep it from you!"

"Genma forced me to tell you, and if I didn't tell you by next week, then he'd do it himself. He was only looking out for you!"

"Now the reason why I wasn't home, was because I was at work.I teach little children how to read and help them find books that they can practice reading with,"

"I didn't want to tell you because I knew you wouldn't let me, please forgive me for not telling you"

"The necklace you saw," she said as she stood up and walked over to the dresser.

"This necklace, it's my wedding gift from Asami, he had the word 'Always' engraved in it to remind me he'll always be with me,"

"And Hanare, she came to me at the Library and told me that you and her always got together when she'd come to town and I figured those-,"

HANARE!! 

"They're leech marks!"

"Me, Guy and Iruka went out for drinks and on our way back we stopped by the old fountain and Guy challenged me to see which one of us would get knocked out first by the leeches,"

"I know it sounds stupid, but Guy has them too, if you want proof. And about Hanare, that was before... Mai she was trying to get in your head-,"

"I knew what she was trying to do, and so I told her to stop or else I'd have her head as my souvenir,"

I was shocked. Did she threaten Hanare?!

I was still trying to make sense of things as she stood up, walked over to the window and closed the curtains.

Still facing away she spoke;

"You said so-called virgin, right?"

"Mai I didn't mean it-,"

I was still struggling to explain when suddenly her nightgown dropped, revealing her naked body.

"Why don't you come check?"

She said as she walked over to me.
