Chapter 17: Misunderstanding

*Mai's POV*

The walk back home was silent.

I was physically and emotionally drained.

We arrived at the house. I dreaded the idea of going inside. But I knew I had to.

I unlocked the door and opened it. Tears came rushing down as I dropped to the floor. This place, He should be home with me.

Akira sat by my side as she consoled me.

"My Lady, he'll be better in no time. Have faith!" She said as she wiped my tears away.

"Let me help you up, you need to take a bath and relax!"

"Leave everything else to me, it's the least I can do," she said as she helped me up.

"Thank you Akira, I'll have my bath and relax," I said as I collected myself and made my way to my bathroom.

*Mini time skip*

I had a mental break down in the shower. I cried my eyes out. I was just so frustrated. I guess this us what happens when you're exhausted and stressed.

After my bath I came out and sat on my bed. I was way past tired. I couldn't even bring myself to sleep.

So I made my way out to talk to Akira.

"Lady Mai, shouldn't you be resting?" She questioned.

"Akira, I can't, so I want to keep my mind busy, please, so just talk to me!" I pleaded.

She looked at me with sorrowful eyes.

"Alright!"

I smiled as I spoke to her;

"Akira have you ever felt love?"

"My Lady, I have. It is am amazing feeling. No one can tell you when you'll fall in love but yourself."

"Do you love him?"

"I do, I love him so much Akira, but my pride, I didn't want to admit it before but seeing him like this made me realize how stupid I was for not saying it sooner,"

"My Lady, it's going to be tough, but he's a fighter, you'll get through this, not long he'll be back." She said as gave me a soft smile.

"I haven't even, g-gotten, I-i meam,"

I couldn't say it bit prayed to the gods she knew what I meant.

"Ohhh Lady Mai, you haven't consummated the marriage yet??"

"N-nnnn-no!"

"Dear child when the time come it will be worth it, I promise you that, everything will happen in due time. Now come on let me put you in bed." She said as she lead me to the room.

We went inside and I got changed, I pulled open my draw and noticed my wedding gift from Asami. I opened in and took a look.

My brother was concerned with me and all I did was push him away.

I threw the box back into the top drawer as I went to lie down.

As soon as my head touched the pillows my body gave in and I fell into slumber.

*Time skip*

Day's turned into week's.

Soon we were 3 days away from it being a month. Kakashi didn't respond to anything or anyone.

I was on my way out of the Hospital when I heard the nurse in his room scream!

"He's AWAKE!!!"
