Chapter 44: Joint Operation

*Mai's POV*

Kotono said I was like my mother. If that's true then I want to master my clans powers.

I understand Kakashi doesn't want to teach me but with all these things happening I feel the need to know at least some basic training.

I stayed up all night thinking about it. I didn't realize Kakashi woke up.

"Why are you still up?"

"Ohh you're awake, I wa... I uhmm... I was thinking.. can you teach me some basic Ni-,"

"Mai we talked about this-,"

"Kakashi, everything that has happened... happened to me!"

"It's still surprises me that I'm still alive!"

"Every time I had to wait to be rescued, the recent one I couldn't defend myself so I had to flirt with the enemy, its disgusting and traumatic. Please you have to," I said as I laid on his chest.

"Fine, but we're going to take it slow,"

"I was hoping to learn my clans-,"

"No!" He said sternly and continued;

"Once you do that you immediately become a walking target, and that's the last thing I need is my wife's life in danger!"

"Kakashi no matter what you do, the moment you married me I became a walking target...us, the boy's, we're all targets. You're The Fearless, The Copy Ninja, you've never had anything or anyone to worry about until now,"

"Mai, I'm sorry-,"

"I didn't ask for an apology, I also signed up for this... I love you regardless, but I also want to protect myself, because they'll come a time where you won't be around to save me and I'll need to protect myself and the boy's!"

He just stared at me in awe.

I meant what I said. There will come a time and when it comes I need to be ready.

*Kakashi's POV*

I laid in bed with what she said lingering in my mind.

It's true, a day will come when I can't protect her, and she'll need to step up. But the thought of that makes me scared. What if I fail her and she...

No I should not think about things like that.

I finally agreed to it and we started training. We made sure to get he boy's the best babysitters and so we started our training.

We started chakra control, before anything else she needs to be able to control her chakra. Then we moved onto shooting targets with kunai's. Guy stepped in and helped her with Taijutsu.

She was a natural.

By 3 months she already mastered simple taijutsu, her aims were perfect and ninjutsu was great. We were a little slow with genjutsu but she still pulled through.

Today she decided to start training and including her clans powers, were in the fields she was meditating while I kept close eyes on her from on-top of a tree, when someone unexpectedly showed up.

"Lady Mai, meditating in a open field all alone," he said,

"She's not alone..." I said as I jumped down from the tree.

"Oh Lord Sixth!"

The way he said it seems... off.

"I'm Lord Daisuke Hirosawa, friend of Lady Mai,"

"Acquaintances, we barely knew each other," Mai said as came and stood beside me.

"Lord Daisuke, what are you doing out here all alone?" Mai questioned.
