Chapter 29: Realization

*Kakashi's POV*

It had been 2 months.

Everyone agreed to let her have her way. Before we could break the barrier she first needs to come to terms herself.

Shizune and I still kept working together but for some reason she looked visibly uncomfortable.

"What's wrong?"

"Do you know that Mai, thinks we're sleeping together and I am very uncomfortable about the situation, I'm requesting that you relieve me of my duties!" She answered.

"She's not in a good place-,"

"Kakashi, you need to relieve me!"

"Fine, just know that you truly helped me during those times. I appreciate everything you've done, I wish-,"

The door suddenly swung open. It was Mai.

"You wish for what Kakashi?"

"That it was her instead of me?" She screamed.

Her screamed echoed through the halls. Several Jōnin's came to the office checking what was going on.

She watched as Shizune slowly bowed, apologized and left.

*Mai's POV*

"Am I not enough?" I asked him.

"Mai, I just-,"

"Don't answer that question, I obviously am not enough for you!"

"I hate you, you're the reason why all this is happening!" I said as I walked off.

He deserved every hurt and pain he gets.

As I was walking out a hand grabbed me and pulled me to side.

"Listen here you stuck up brat!!"

"I don't care if you get hurt hearing this, stop hiding behind that trauma blaming everyone for the things we can't control. Heck you're just as much to blame too!!"

"It hurts being put in your place doesn't it?"

"This is exactly what you've been doing, you want everyone to feel your pain well we've felt it!!"

"Do you know how and who rescued you?!"

"No you don't because you're too busy being angry at everyone. Try stop and think!!"

"Keep pushing people away and you'll see how that turns out!"

"I know what it feels like to hurt, but this, this is too far, and if no one is going to tell you, I will!"

I stared at Kurenai with fire burning in my eyes!

"Don't touch me and DO NOT EVER THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!!"

"I am-,"

I couldn't finish my sentence as she slapped me right across my face.

"You're Lady Mai?, No you're not, you don't have that title, oh you're the Hokage's wife?, no you lost all our respect already."

"You'll thank me later for all this!" She said as she walked off.

All of a sudden Mirai came running up to me out of no where.

"Lady Mai I missed you so much, come play with me when you're free!" She said in the softest tone,

My heart dropped, realization kicked in.
