Jack Gilinsky's POV
JULIA, I mean JuJu, FORGAVE ME! We are officially friends now! This is one of the happiest days of my life.
We got into the library and she got her essay out of the printer. Once she got hers, I was waiting for all of my papers to print out, then she walked away. I thought she left and went back to class which made me a little sad because she didn't wait for me.
I got all my papers and headed out of the library when I saw her on the side, by the shelves, waiting for me.
I smiled because of it. She would've never done this before when I bullied her. I felt so guilty for doing that and I'm surprised she forgave me so quick.
We were walking for about a minute in silence heading back to english. Then, JuJu broke the silence and started a conversation.
"So what'd you write yours about?" She asked me.
Im so glad we're friends because now we can talk to each other without everything being so awkward.
"I wrote about my family, friends and all the great things that happened in my life." I said.
"What about the bad things?" She brought up.
I hope she isn't talking about me bullying her because I didn't want to put that in here. The teachers knew I bullied her but they couldn't do anything about it.
Everyone knows I'm one of the richest guys in school and if they called the police, my parents would know how to get me out of it. That's why I never got into any trouble.
I told everyone on the news that I bullied her so I'll probably get in big trouble for that. I'll probably not even get into a good college if they know I physically abused someone.
I tried to clear my head and respond to her question, "I didn't really think the bad things mattered as long as the good things that happened in my life made me happier than what made me sad. Someone once told me, 'Be happy... Not because everything is good but because you can see the good in everything.'"
I stared at her waiting for a response. I hope I didn't say anything wrong because she kinda just stared into blank space.
That kinda made me nervous. I was really hoping I didn't remind her of anything terrible that happened in her life.
Finally, she responded, a couple seconds later.
"Wow... That's... Great." She said.
I chuckled a little bit because of how she said it. She laughed a little too and then started speaking again.
"I have a quote on my wall in my living room and it says, 'It takes a strong person to say sorry, and an even stronger person to forgive.' That quote kinda helped me forgive you. If I didn't have that on my wall, I probably wouldn't have believed in second chances. I thought I needed to be stronger and just forgive." She looked down for a little with a small smile on her face.
That made me happy to hear that she was staying strong, even after all that I have done to her.
She made eye contact with me and I smiled to her. I liked talking to her so I continued our conversation. "Wow, really?" I asked, sounding fascinated. She nodded.
"I'm glad you have that on your wall. Because if it weren't for that quote we would've never been friends. I mean even though you just forgave me now, I'm glad we're friends." I smiled.
She blushed and turned away thinking I wouldn't see it, which was really cute.
"Im glad I forgave you." She said, looking back up.
"So, what's yours about, if it's okay for me to ask." I said. I asked her, hoping she didn't write about me.
"Ummm... Just about my life and struggles. Not much really." She said and then broke eye contact with me.
I could tell she was lying. I really wanted to know more about her but I didn't bother asking again. I don't want to accidentally ruin our friendship on the first day.
I acted like I didn't notice her lying so I just responded by saying "Cool."
We finally got to the classroom and Juju and I sat at our desks.
Right away, she started talking to Matt. In about a minute she was already laughing.
I tried to ignore it and just read my book. But then I saw Matt go closer to her and whisper in her ear. I looked at her and she was blushing which made me really mad.
What did he say to her to make her blush?! I really hope she doesn't start liking him. I've really gotta do something about this... But what?....
