Jack G's POV

I was at lunch getting my food from the cafeteria. In the regular line, they were serving corn dogs with chips, or burgers with fries. Both aren't good compared to the food outside of school, so, instead I ordered chipotle by the other cafeteria.

Once I got my food, I saw Matt walk in. I had to make JuJu like me so, that means I have to be friendly to Matt. She'll think I'm a nice guy and so will he.

I walked towards him, quickly, before he could sit down at his regular lunch table. "Matt!" I called.

He turned his head and looked at me. He gave me a small smile and was waiting for me to walk all the way up to him.

"Hey." He said, once I finally caught up to him.

"Hey. Sit with me and the guys today." I said nodding my head to the direction of our table.

"Uh.. I was gonna sit with JuJu and Hannah though." Matt said hesitantly.

"C'mon, sit with us. Plus JuJu and Hannah probably want to talk about your date tonight." I said, trying to convince him to sit with us.

"Oh ok, yeah sure." We walked towards the other half of the lunchroom and got to my table. Sam and Collin were already there.

"Hey guys, is it okay if Matt sits with us today?" I ask, already knowing the answer will be yes.

They look at each other, shrug and then nod their heads.

"Great." I say, sitting down. Matt does the same, looking a little uncomfortable.

"So, how are you liking Westside so far?" Sam asked.

"It's great, I've met a lot of new people." He said smiling. When he finished his sentence he looked back down at his plate and started eating his soup.

"Cool. Do you play any sports?" Collin asked.

"I used to be on the football team at my old school."

"Oh, what position do you play?" Collin asked again.

"Quarterback." He replied.

"Cool. You should hang out with us sometime after school next week. Some of our friends from North Carolina are visiting and we always go outside to play football when it's nice." I said.

"Yeah, sure that'd be great." He smiled. I think he's starting to get more comfortable talking to us.

We stayed silent for about a minute until someone walked into the lunchroom late.

It was JuJu and Hannah. I smiled to myself and then looked to my left to see Matt and JuJu making eye contact and smiling at each other.

I clenched my jaw and turned my head, trying to ignore it.

"So, where are you taking JuJu on her first date?" I asked.

"I'm gonna take her to dinner at a fancy restaurant and then I'm taking her to my cabin. The view of the lake at my cabin is always better at night so I'm taking her there after the restaurant." He said smiling and then going back to eating.

I couldn't help but feel jealous because of how great her first date would be. Plus, o was jealous because I wasn't her first date.

I wonder if she told him that we almost kissed that night.

Who am I kidding. If she's going on a date with him, she probably forgot all about that night. I mean, she was drunk.

Sam snapped me out of my thoughts, "You okay, Jack?" He asked.

"Yeah, just thinking." I said.

A couple minutes later, we started making a conversation. Mostly about sports and Matts date. Every time Sam mentioned JuJu, Matt would always blush. I swear this kid was like in love with her already. But, who wouldn't be. I thought and then let out a small sigh.

Lunch was over not too long after that and the school day passed by really fast. When I got home, all I could think about was JuJu and Matts date.

I should've never bullied her...
