JuJu's POV

I walked into my last hour, Physics. I hated this class because Jack and Sam sit right behind me and Hannah and they would always pick on us or throw stuff at us.

Now I hate it even more because I didn't forgive them and I feel a little guilty about it. I don't even know if I should be feeling guilty, but I am.

"Hey Hannah." I say as I sit down in my desk.

"Hey girl. I heard we're being assigned projects today and we have to do it with a partner." She says, rolling her eyes.

I roll my eyes along with her. I'm so bad at science, this isn't going to go well for me or Hannah.

"At least we can be partners." I said trying to cover up my frown.

"Actually, she's picking our partners." Hannah says.

"Ugh. Damn it."

I hope I'm not partnered with an idiot.

Everyone else starts to walk in and my eyes meet with Jacks.

I look down and try to ignore him by talking to Hannah.

The bell rings and everyone is in their seats.

"Okay, class. Today you're gonna be assigned a project and you'll have a partner." Mrs. Wahlers says.

Everyone starts cheering once she said partners.

"Ah, ah, ah. Not so fast." She says shaking her head. And here's where everyone's school dreams shatter. Everyone loves picking their own partners. But we rarely ever get to choose our partners. The teachers always have to ruin it and pick it for us.

"I'm choosing your partners." She said and everyone groans.

"Kayla Waters and Hunter Smith, you guys will be doing a project on evaporation. Kate Melony and Alex Taylor. You guys are doing a project on physical changes. Hannah Carring and Sam Wilkinson. You guys are doing a project on earthquakes...." Hannah rolls her eyes and mutters "Ugh."

"Is there a problem Ms. Carring?" Mrs. Wahlers asks Hannah.

Hannah fakes a smile and says "No, miss." I start laughing at Hannah.

She squints her eyes at me (like this😑). "I'm sorry, but it was kinda funny." I say still laughing.

"Ugh. I don't want to be his partner. I wonder who she's gonna partner you up with." Hannah says.

"Yeah me too." I'm kind of nervous about who my partner is because I don't know anybody in our class. Everyone knows me but not in a good way.

The teacher continues to call names and she finally comes to mine. "Julia Grace and Jack Gilinsky. You guys will be doing a project on crystallization." My mouth drops wide open.

"That's all the projects you can have the rest of the hour to figure out what you'll do with the subject, and where you'll meet to do the project so you may go anywhere in the room to talk to your partner and get things settled." Mrs. Wahlers says, walking back to her desk.

I get up and go to the back of the room and Jack follows behind. I give a small awkward smile and start the conversation. "Ummm... So since it's on crystallization, maybe we can do something easy like crystal rock candy and the temperature effect." I say.

"Yeah sure." He says, agreeing with the project.

"So, when do you want to start?" I ask.

"Umm.. How about tomorrow, Thursday? I can't on Fridays or Saturdays. I have basketball." He says with his hands in his pockets.

"Uh yeah, okay, sure, where?"

"We can do it at my house and if you don't have a ride I can pick you up at 5." He offers.

"Oh no, it's okay. I'll just have my dad drop me off."

"Okay. Can I have your number?" He asks. I furrow my eyebrows and look at him confused.

"You know. So I can text you my address." He continues with a laugh.

"Oh! Yeah right." I say and laugh too.

I hand him my phone and he gives me his. I put my phone number in his contacts and take a picture of myself to put in his contact also.

He laughs when he sees me taking the picture and takes one of himself, smiling. I've never noticed til now that he has a really nice smile.

Wait. Did I actually just say something nice about my bully? Ugh, whatever, I'll just ignore it. Nothing big, I was just being nice.

"Ok, well I'll text you my address tomorrow after school." He said.

"Yep." I said with a small friendly smile.

The rest of the class we just talked about what we're gonna do and how we're going to present our project. The bell finally rang and school was over.

Today wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Let's hope that tomorrows better
