Chapter 40

Demi's POV

I walked into my hotel room to find Serena sitting there on the bed, playing with her bracelets obviously in a nervous state.

"Hi," I said softly.

"Hi," she responded.

I placed my bag down onto the bedside table and sat down next to Serena on the bed.

"I'm sorry about today, about everything," Serena said and I nodded, "I know you are."

"This is what I warned you about," she mumbled and I felt bad for her.. She really was trying to make things work for us but she makes stupid decisions.

"Listen Serena, I don't get it, any of it! Huh I don't even get you but I'm trying too, I really am but something always pushes us back. I can't deny the fact that my concert was stopped because these three guys who seem to know you very well want to take you but not before torturing everyone you love! That shit only happens in movies, I just don't understand what all this is and if I can handle it all," I said.

Serena again started to play with her bracelets on her wrist and that's when I noticed something I never have before, "What is that?" I pointed to a tattoo on her wrist, purposely being hidden by her bracelets. "It's a tattoo our parents made my brothers and I get, its the beginning of our names," she explained and I nodded as I examined it soon looking back up to her beautiful face.

"You can leave," she said suddenly.

"I don't want to leave."

"But you can't handle all this either cause as Enrique said this will follow me for the rest of my life."

I thought about everything and I knew she was right and I then I think back to the time I promised her I could handle anything as long as she was by my side...

"I'll leave to let you have some space," she said getting up and I nodded not knowing what to say as she walked out of the door and I had this bad feeling in my stomach that something was about to happen, like I always do..

Serena's POV

I drove to the hospital, thinking about everything that played out today. Thinking about Enrique and the other two, their words, their actions how still after all these years it still gets to me, they still know what buttons to press. I thought about Josh and I thought about Demi.. I warned her, loud and clear but she chose to work on this, she chose me and my lifestyle.

I pulled up to the hospital and rushed up to Josh's room to see Britt sitting outside of his room, "What's going on?" I asked.

"Nothing's he's okay they checked for brain damage or anything like that but the CT scans showed nothing, he's very lucky," she explained and I nodded letting out the breath I was holding in and sat down next to her.

"How did our lives get to this?" I asked her and she shook her head, "Our lives were like this from the moment we were born," she responded.

"I just wish it were all different," I said.

"It's Demi isn't it?" She questioned and I nodded looking down.

"She can't handle it all can she?"

"I don't know but it doesn't look like it."

Britt let out a sigh and held my hand, something she hasn't done in a while, "If she truly loves you and sees a future with you she will want to be in this with you but saying that a relationship does have two people in it so you have to make some sacrifices for her."

"Like what give it all up? You know that even if I do it'll follow me," I argued and she nodded, "Trust me I know but you just got to talk to her about how you two could make things work."

"Shit Britt since when were you the advice giver?" I chuckled.

"Jacobs just changed my thoughts on a lot of things," she shyly spoke and I felt bad as the reason for her feeling this way is because of my attitude, "I'm happy for you too, you both deserve the best and I love you guys so much," I smiled and so did she.

"Let's go check up on the idiot," I smiled.

As we walked in I saw Josh lying there pale as hell and tubes coming out of his mouth and nose.

"God Josh," I said rushing to his side and carefully hugging him.

"Hey, I'm okay don't worry about me," he said.

"Of course I worry Josh what happened in there was because of me."

"Serena don't blame yourself, it's their fault and you know it, it's all on them."

Silence took over us as none of us knew what to say and then words that could change my life forever came out of Josh's mouth.

"Listen about that night I remember more and I'm guessing you don't remember but we didn't use a condom," he said.

"I know but you didn't release anything, you know," I said awkwardly.

"That's the problem Serena, I did."
