Jody's POV:

A little time goes by since our snow day and Tyler slapping an old lady's hand.

Man that was funny.

But before I know it the play rolls around and its opening night.

"Crap, crap, crap! This can't be happening." I say pacing back and forth in my dressing room

Out of nowhere there's a knock on the door and I shoot a worried look towards the door.

It slowly opens to reveal my parents.

"Thank god! Your here!" I say

"Everything ok?" My mom asks handing me a plastic bag that has my makeup in it

"Yes. I just needed my makeup. Thank you so much for bringing it". I say hugging her

"Your welcome honey." She says hugging me back."

I take the bag from her and go over to my mirror and start applying my makeup.

I know what your probably thinking, 'Jody how could you leave your makeup at home. Your Drama Girl for crying out loud!'

What I have to say is I was literally running out the door to get to the theater where the play is and I completely forgot my makeup and to a person who is in a play your makeup is like a ball for any sport that uses a ball or its like your heart that pumps blood throughout your body.

Pretty much what I'm saying is I need my makeup.

"Good luck Jody." My dad says as he sets a bouquet of flowers on the table

"Aw thank you dad!" I say putting down my makeup to hug him

With that they make their way out of my dressing room but before they go my mom says.

"Break a leg sweetie."

"Thanks mom."

With that they are gone going to find their seats for the show.

As more time passes I get more anxious by the second worrying that I'll forget my lines.

I know what your thinking now, why are you so worried?

Well as simple as this a professor from the college of my dreams is coming to watch me perform and if I do good then I might get a scholarship.

So this isn't just some play it's my life after high school on the line.

Then there's a knock on my door and I freeze.

"Ten minutes Miss Taylor." The backstage person says

Has soon as the door closes I start freaking out again.

I slowly pick up my phone which is on the table right next to my mirror and as I turn it on a name surprises me...Chase.

Chase's POV:

Ok so I admit I haven't seen any of Jody's plays but the word was going around school that she was doing a play tonight, February 22nd, at the theater downtown.

So as simple as this right after basketball practice I drive over to the theater, got a ticket and found a seat.

When I find my seat I sit down and pull out my phone and text Jody.

Me: hey! Break a leg tonight! If you ever get worried just find me in the audience.

As soon as I send the text I put down my phone and look around the theater seeing who all is here. Someone who I would never expect to be here I find in the back left corner along with her friends and that's my sister.

"Since when did you like plays?" I whisper

I guess the old geezer next to me hears me because he starts talking.

"What was that?" He says. "I can't hear a darn thing in here because you old hippies are making too much noise"

I decide not to say anything and turn on my phone to see Jody replied.

Jody: thank you so so so so much for coming! That means a lot :)

Before I start texting her back the old guy leans over to have a look at my phone.

"What you got there young man?" He asks

Before I can answer he just grabs my phone right out of my hand.

"Isn't Jody the one who is in the play?" He asks pushing his glasses up

"Yes sir." I say reaching to grab my phone back but he moves

"She's my granddaughter."

Those words make me freeze. I'm sitting next to Jody's grandfather. This can either go really good or really bad.

"Are you two dating because she hasn't said anything about any boyfriend." He says which snaps me out of my thoughts

"No sir. We are just friends." I say

"So far you are two for two young man." He says smiling as he hands me back my phone. "What is your name?"

"Chase Collins sir."

"I've heard of you. Your the quarterback at the high school here."

"Well I hope you have heard good things." I say smiling

"Don't worry I have."

Slowly the lights dim and the director walks onstage.

"Good evening everyone and welcome to our production of Romeo and Juliet." He says and everyone starts clapping. "Tonight our lovely Miss Jody Taylor will not only prove she wants this more than anything but she will also wow you like she has wowed me with her performance. WIthout farer ado let us begin Romeo and Juliet."

He disappears off the stage and is replaced by the actors and actresses.

Jody isn't in the first scene or the second so I admit this play is getting kind of boring but I don't fall asleep or her grandfather will think I can't handle siting through 2 hour, maybe 3 hour play.

Finally she comes onstage and she is a picture of beauty wearing a long flowing blue dress. Even though there's the actors onstage as well as other people in the audience I feel like it's just us two.

"She looks beautiful, doesn't she." He grandfather whispers to me

"Yeah she does."

I can tell by how the scene plays out it's when Romeo and Juliet meet. Man I wish I was Romeo right now.
