Chase's POV:
The day slowly goes on till it comes to an end. Together Josh, Tyler and I walk to our lockers and grab our back packs stuff our books in our backpacks.

We meet up with the rest of the football team in the middle of the hallway. We all huddle in a circle. As the cheerleaders circle around us.

"Let's do this guys." I yell and so does the rest of the team while the cheerleaders cheer.

I take off running down the hall towards the gym with my team mates following behind me, followed by the cheerleaders and the crowd.

Our last game of the season and we have to win to get into the state championship. We can't lose now. We have the best record out of all the high schools, and we can't break that record now.

We get to the locker room and quickly change into our jersey's. I have number 35 since for every uniform I wear its 35 no matter what.

We huddle in the locker room while coach talks to us about getting out there and doing our best, but mostly winning since this is the first time he's been so close to the state championship that he can almost taste it.

"Alright Chase you know what to do so take it over from here." Coach says.

"Alright guys last game. Who do we want to win?" I yell the last part.

"Us!"

"Who's going to lose?"

"They are!"

"Alright then let's get out there and win this game!" I yell and they sound super pumped.

We run out of school and off towards the field to see everyone cheering us on. But I'm stopped by a hand on my shoulder. I trail the up the arm to see it belongs to Sam.

"Are you forgetting something?" She asks.

Yeah, every time there's a game I always give her a big kiss on the lips. But today I'm not feeling it. But before I can bring myself to say anything she grabs the front of my jersey and pulls me in.

I pull after sooner than usual and by the look on her face she can tell something is wrong. But before she says anything I pull on my helmet and run onto the field to stretch with my team.

For me what is kind of nerve racking is that everyone is counting on me to lead the team to victory. I mean even as I warm up I see my family in bleachers with posters in big letters saying "We want a Win! State Championship here we come." and if you had my dad he will always be pushing you to do good in sports, nothing else. All he cares about is sports. When he was my age he was just like me, low grades but great at any sport he played and his dad was the same way and he never understood why and that's the same for me.

My eyes loom over to the cheerleaders and I see Sam looking worried, like she is thinking something is wrong with our relationship which is not a lie, on my end anyway. It's just like any relationship I've been in, there's a spark at first then it slowly dims till it's completely out. That's how it is with Sam and I, She's trying to keep it going but it's to late, it's gone for good.

Finally the game starts and Tyler hikes me the ball and I throw it to Josh who catches it and runs into the end zone before he gets tackled.

~After The Game~

We won 27-15! So we are going to the state championship, the first time in our school history! But no one could be more excited than Coach, even if you tried you can top him.

But before I make my way into the locker room to shower and change, Sam stops me, trying to be the caring girlfriend she isn't.

"Chase is everything alright?" She asks.

I take a deep breath in then breathe it out.

"Sam, the truth is, it's not. Remember when we first started dating and there was a spark. Well now there's nothing." I say.

I could tell she was trying to hold back both screaming and crying by biting her bottom lip.

I felt bad for saying it but it's to late to take it back. Before I can say a word she takes off running down the hall.

"Well I guess she finally got the memo." Josh says sticking his head out of the locker room door.

I turn to him and shove him back into the locker room and I follow.
